It is different and takes a little getting used to. You have to be confident enough to give it a go but cautious at the same time until you become accustomed to it. Ya shoulda gone…
I drive a lefty now Alex. Anybody that says that you will be ok after 50 mile are probably lying . I am lucky that the FH I drive is ishift and has cameras on it for blind spots . When I put the right hand indicator on the screen in the cab shows an image of what’s along side me , it’s very handy mate . It also has a collision warning system and lane control with active cruise controll . All these systems are good but the main thing to remember is to keep left and drive with your arse in the gutter on on the vibraline . Good luck mate !
Wuss, you would of been ok after 50 miles. a bit like first learning to reverse or drive, you just get in and do it.
I had a lhd ford Granada once that wasn’t to bad HTH lol
Is it for BY Alex ?
It took me a while to get used to a left ■■■■■■, you`re forever thinking those lamp posts are going to hit you ! lol.
I shift and blind side cameras made the experience so much easier to get used too !
Good luck, i might be back in the truck job market soon ! the last truck i drove was 6 years ago in August !
The hardest things about LHD are working out your reference points, after driving RHD and jumping in the other side it takes a while to get used to where you are sitting and what you see.
The other thing is reversing, it took me a while to master it, it just seems wrong, sticking your head out of the window and steering with your right arm.

It’s not theirs anymore,
This is our England now.

On the contrary, I would contend that it is a more natural action for the right handed majority

I agree but flicking your ciggy out the window with your left takes some getting used to and several panic “did that fly back in” frantic cab searches

no not yeardleys, it was for a foreign firm which wont suffer fools gladly, better to be honest and up front and hope for another chance than fail spectacularly and banished for ever.
yeardleys will only set you on if you will do 3 weeks away.

I agree with you,but if you don’t want to have a go,how will you get another chance? I tried LHD a couple of times, and wasn’t very happy(as I’ve posted on here before)Wouldn’t mind another go,if only to put my mind at rest one way or another for good!I hate thinking I’m beaten
If you tell your boss you’ve not drove lhd before but are up for it he would be cool. First few mins a bit hairy but only way to learn. A lot would of just blagged it to secure the work.

Who have you been working for recently ?
I have noticed today Freightliner are still using those 04 plate DAF CF`s, everytime i see one of those i think of you!
As another poster has stated, you would have got used to the LHD by the time you got to Dover, just take it steady and keep your eyes in the mirrors to make sure of your road position.
I remember when Kevin at Yeardleys was asking me once if i had any experience of LHD as i was just arriving back in the yard in one !, he asked without thinking it and had a good laugh about it. BY seem to be doing well these days, nice to still see some Brit boys still doing Euro work

Did they not go with that? Bit of a shame as it would probably worked out well for everyone as you could’ve got some good 1 to 1 tuition there.

when on RHD I use my left hand whilst reversing, when I started driving LHD it just seemed awkward at first.
