Thanks Dreva, you’re correct, I am an ex TRUCK mag man, but that only means that I can string a sentence about lorries together, oh and I must be a half decent driver too or they wouldn’t have let me do Test Matches or Trans Euro TestsI can’t write about the M/E though, so I have to rely on the tales I hear on this forum, that’s where Saint Laurence comes in, he has the ability to tell a good story, he also has photographs, that’s what a lot of us want to see, it’s a bit silly when people we have a great deal of respect for start gobbing off saying that he ain’t all that, that many others have done more trips etc, well so [zb]ing what? Most of us on this forum haven’t been to the M/E, so if some of the so called M/E heroes think that one of their own is being held in too high a regard, what do they think of mere mortals like the rest of us
I just don’t get why anyone would try and shoot the man down, especially someone who knows exactly what goes on during a trip out east
but then again is that what really happened here, a few people, who by their own admission are not the best at putting their thoughts into words said a few things and now we’ve got up to five pages and most of it is bickering and ■■■■■■■■, so how about we all kiss and make up and let’s have some more stories and pictures of Laurence Kiely breaking down from Abu Dhabi to Zeebrugge

Thanks for your compliments. Don’t know about being a Saint though! More stories are coming soon i.e. Part 2 of the Kuwait piece. That Abu Dhabi piece is in the pipe line too. Oh and the first of another 3 parter with Priors - now that WAS supermarket deliveries, will be on line as well.
Do not worry yourself about ‘critics’. Just them get on with it. If any criticism is well founded, i.e. researched and proves that I have made a total prat of myself then fine, let us all hear it. As you say, this thread is all about info, entertainment and so forth. Many of you have stated you have never done the M/E runs due to a variety of reasons - age, woman did not want you to disappear for weeks on end, political climate, stupid wars and so on.
But do not let that stop any of you from writing your stories and putting your pics on line. Newmercman we know you are more than capable and having read your thoroughly enjoyable piece perhaps you too can encourage the others.
This thread is not confined to M/E stories. Any will do so long as the underlying theme is transport, the people involved within that industry, human emotions etc. Do NOT worry what others might think. Having a go is enough to deserve applause. Critics generally criticise everyything without creating anything.
I have a sneaking feeling that a lot of you have a lot to say and illustrate too. So please feel free to ‘have that go’.
