As a young lad I lived about half a mile away from Marshall’s yard it was a massive place huge warehouses and garages
It’s now sadly gone a large retail park and a Morrisons supermarket are there now

Certainly does look a big operation and well run, I know it sounds sad but it really does grieve me to see all these old firms gone. Don’t they call it progress?.. :frowning:

Anyone remember these? My old next door neighbours girlfriend used to work in the office there.

SADLER FLEET 15.JPG

Armstrong World Industries [ Armstrong Cork ], new Scania`s outside the factory at Team Valley
Trading Estate, Gateshead 1987.

Remember these well going into Armstrong’s when at Van Hee with our own 112’s, had some good loads out of and into there over the years. Franky.

More from Armstrong Cork. A late start on a Sunday morning finds the yard quiet & peaceful. A mix of units can be seen
& a shortage of space on a week-end caused the operating of the " Random, Park it anywhere, Thatll do, Im Off",
system. The appearance of Ryder units was only a stop gap measure to help with a tractor shortage, the Maggies were
dying 256M19, only 4 runners, & the arrival of the new fleet was scheduled for August 1987, 13 Scania P112 6x2 &
28 Step Frame Trailers, should have known 13 was unlucky !!!

I don’t suppose you have any photos of the B series ERF in the photo LVK280W as it was my uncle’s vehicle when new, Billy Wilkinson?

ERF64cu1, Im sorry I only have one other photo of LVK 280X & its smaller than the one shown.
The unit was one of a pair & were very late model B Series as an X reg C series in the photo
shows. We had 7 ERFs with 290e engines, not a pick of bother between them. When this photo was taken, Billy had settled for being home every night & had taken on an A reg Seddon Atkinson 301 8 wheeler, again from new, again only one, not very good photo. There are photos of LVK 280 X in an August 2008 issue of Classic & Vintage Commercials. Had many a chat with Billy about the " Good old days " Sorry I couldnt be of any help. Cheers pushrod47
