Keyfuels

:stuck_out_tongue:

Morrisons supermarkets, accept KeyFuels; the one at Pinchbeck does Gas Oil too, which was handy last week when I had to deliver in there; didn’t know tho’ that if you draw more than 100l of red you have to fill in a form.

I tend to use primerily (if not the Burton latimer depot), Morrisons Corby, Cambridge Services, the tiny station on the A1 about a mile south of the A47 northbound. Oddly, if you put in over 100l of red in at that small place the bloke gives you £1 in hard cash!

The thing about Morrisons though, is that anything over 3.5t is banned from the forecourt.

Still they are very handy for me in my little yellow van…

They are? I take a 7.5t in there loads… as do many other people… wouldn’t take anything bigger in tho.

Morrisons also accept Fuelserv and UK Fuels

pity there’s only a couple of sites with HGV access

If you look at the sign with thr prices on, where it shows the Keyfuels logo, underneath it shows the max weight limit. I’ve not seen a Morrisons that allows anything more than 3.5t, unless I’ve been to the wrong ones…

It’s more than possible that the people on the forecourts at Morrisons wouldn’t know the difference between a 3.5t and a 7.5t if it smacked them up the head.

Nope. Been there in a 7.5t  Nearly got it jammed under the canopy but I still got my gogo juice to get home

Who’s on Keyfuels here

When I used to be on containers I was regularly up and down the A1/A14 and knew the places that took Keyfuels but down the western side of the country it’s another story.

Techincally our cards are Routemate I think, but they have the Keyfuels logo on so it’s pretty much just the Keyfuels sites where you can use them. I’ve no knowledge of the sites in the south/south coast areas and had about quarter of a tank left enroute to Trafford Park.

I belled my mate up and he thought that Sutton Scotney did Keyfuels but alas no, Shell only when I got there. I pulled out my site directory and there’s zip in that area; A34 etc.

Found a couple round Oxford but “NO HGV” it said

Getting stupidly low on juice now and after a quick consultation with the gaffer he assured me that if I could make it to Banbury then go round to Exel and they’ve definitely got juice there. Made it to Banbury, what do I find  “SORRY NO FUEL”

Needless to say I had to put in £50 of juice on my own card which the gaffer wasn’t happy about but no quibbles about paying it of course.

Couldn’t think of anywhere else up the M40/M42/M5 before Wolverhamton truck stop but I’d vaguely remember reading that the former Nightowl’s were back up and running again but weren’t accepting bunker cards; cash/credit cards only  Never been to Wolverhampton truck stop either and don’t know where it is exactly. However, I knew that there was a fuel dump that defo does Keyfuels between J1 M54 and the M6 on the A460 so managed to get it in there and fill up.

I later had a glance through the directory I have (dated December 2003) and reckoned that there was at least a fifth of them weren’t even there anymore :exclamation: :open_mouth: There is one site listed in Leeds which has been gone for at least 4 years as it was flattened and a McDonalds is now on it :exclamation: :exclamation:

I don’t know if any of you know Leicester particularly well but it was early last week I was there one night and needed fuel desperately. Looked in my directory and found “Flyover Filling Station” on the A■■? Melton Mowbray road (it’s a Jet garage just off the ring road on the left). Directory says “HGV” so off I went. Found it okay and then noticed that there weren’t HGV “equipped” at all and just had normal size diesel pumps which were on the back row up against the car wash and a 4.0m canopy. :open_mouth: Determined not to be beaten I got most of the artic in and “jammed” it up the canopy  also realigning one of their cameras in the process  and managed to squeeze in nearly 4 lots of 100 litres of a time which took all of half an hour :open_mouth: Had a nightmare of a time trying to get out as I had to reverse back out on the fast moving A-road, blind-side with a building blocking any view. The Asian operator refused to assist me too even after asking and he sat there on his chair watching me struggle  [zb]

Anyway, there you go. I’m sure that what was once a very large Keyfuels network had realy dwindled down to virtually nothing except the big truck-stop type places. :unamused:

I have also had nightmares looking for keyfuels!Swindon up to Doncaster whats worse is that if you ever found a BP with keyfuels you werent given points!

Some places were taking keyfuels cards one week then the next NO CHANCE!
Hated the bloody things!

That’s very true :exclamation: Tried that myself. Now I don’t bother collecting any points at all, [zb] to it.

I don’t know how true it is but apparently your best bet for garages doing Keyfuels are Texaco and Total. BP is the worst, then Shell and Esso.

Swindon to Doncaster I’d fill up at Tibshelf which is surely one of the few MSA’s that actually does it   Anyone know of anymore  In fact, it says in my directory that Watford Gap MSA does Keyfuels but that’s very wrong because I found out to my cost this week.

If you think Keyfuels is bad, you should try Securicor, they are virtually none existant

All of Road Chef Services take Key Fuels as far as I’m aware, on the Melton Mowbray - Newark Road A46 if I think right, there is a Shell Garage and the Jet Garage both advertise they take Keyfuels.

Best bet though is Texaco that usually does for me.

I see key fuels logos everywhere. We have Shell Euro cards. SHELL? What was my boss thinking? Ok, so there’s hundreds of them all over the place. But how many cater for HGVs. And of course it’s the same old story - never one when you need it. On occasions I’ve topped up my tank 3 times in one day to make sure I don’t run out - usually when going to Wales or somewhere remote where you might not see another garage for hours.

When I tramped, I always made sure I had 2 fuel cards, and carried the map book for at least 1 of them.

A very big yes to Securicor, I’v never liked them but doing some weekend tramps finished things, what is it about so called 24 hour services that make them think no ones around over saturday or sunday night.
I also find with Securicor that there sites are all too often well off the well used routes.

Last company I worked for we were on AS24 only :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

There’s only half a dozen places in the UK that take them :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

A bit stupid having a “European” fuel card for UK work only if you ask me.

Rob, I noticed you were down my way this week (I am just off the A272 near Petersfield). If you are down here again looking for Keyfuels, I can think of two immediately!
On the Chichester by pass (the A27) there are 2 Texacos… I am not sure about the Westbound one but the Eastbound definetly takes Keyfuels. Also there is Keyfuels at Portsmouth Truckstop … come off the 27 at Southsea and follow signs for Farlington Services. Right opposite the services (a Shell station) is a left turn. turn left there, down to the bottom, turn left then immediate right and truckstop is on the right. There is also a Keyfuels on the way into Southampton Dock at gate 10. Before you go over the bridge to the dock gates, it on the right hand side in a vehicle repairers as i remember. All 3 are easily accessible

I’ve had similar situations with keyfuels, major nightmare there is two self service ones locally but it’s great when the gaffer can’t remember the pin number but he’s good at that with DKV over the water too. Bless him. :open_mouth:

Aye, I later found out that there are a few on my route down there but being up the A34 was a bit far away to turn round and go back :frowning:

Just as a side-note I’d like to congratulate Tesco for their perfect positioning of a 24hr on the side of the A27 just before turn off on the A259  for Bosham and other villages

It was ideal for a quick food re-stock both day and night while passing  In fact at night I could drive the artic right up to the front door in the car park because there was no-one about :exclamation: Perfect :sunglasses:
