lewis new trucker:
ok cool so soon as i get to the yard does that start my time for the 6 hours ? then soon as i put my card in my wagon does that start the time for my 4.5 hours ?
You’re complicating things now…
Your 6 hour limit (RTD/WTD) starts from your clocking on time. However, any time you book as Period Of Availability or break will not count as part of the 6 hours so using POA can allow you to defer the need to take a break. So for example, you record 1 hour of POA therefore 1 hour added to the 6 hour limit means you can defer taking a break until 7 hours after clocking on. Most important thing though is to remember your driving hours. If you reach 4.5 hours actual driving before you reach the RTD/WTD limit then you must take sufficient break at that point.
It’s important to note that breaks of less than 15 minutes will not actually count as break but can still be used to defer the time when you need to take a break to comply with the RTD/WTD! Is your mind boggled yet?
There’s more but probably best to let you digest that and ask any questions you might have.
lol yea it is i think i am thinking to much and i am pretty sure it will all come together thanks a lot for everything and i am sure i will have more lol just need my digi card so i can get out there
Don’t be afraid to ask if you’re not sure. It’s important you get to grips with this ASAP. Don’t rely on what your colleagues tell you, very unreliable in my experience! Tachograph and Coffeeholic are mustard on all this. If I’ve given you any duff info one of them will pop in and straighten both of us out!
YAY driver card come yesterday, so hitting the agencies today see what they can offer me hopefully i will get sent out with a professional driver for a day or two well wish me luck
make sure you have safety shoes high viz and gloves just in case
