Just failed C+E

Yes some of it may be down to luck, but I do believe a lot of it’s down to you, your perception of how things are going, and how you then react to them! For example, isn’t work (any job) easier and more enjoyable when you’re not feeling tired? So try and get plenty of rest before your training and test. Do not (or try not) to stress about it, as what will stressing about it do other than make it harder? Just tell yourself: What will be, will be! Stress will not aid the outcome, only hinder the outcome…

Best of luck!

Thanks man! And you are dead right. Everything is an interaction between what’s going on ‘out there’ and ‘in here’ and very often the two bounce off each other.

Cheers!

You’re welcome, perception of a situation or environment, can radically change your emotions and mental state…

As you have found out already. Going forwards is the easy bit. In fact you put anyone in a cab and within a few minutes they can be going forward.

Going backwards is the iffy bit. But you will get the hang of it in time :0)

WRIGHTY 1 YOU DESERVE SWEET F—K ALL YOU KNO- with a attitude like yours, you will be a great advantage to a employer, run before you can walk, have a nice big truck YOU HAVE TO EARN IT…

Big man with the swearing but at 48 years old and having worked for the same employer for the last 16 years I consider myself a reasonably safe bet with a good attitude towards work, if you really think that as a career change I should first of all go and wash trucks and sweep up you are massively deluded. Been there and done that pal but then I was 15/16 at the time, why don’t you come and get all shouty typing in capitals again as that’s just so grown up! For most of us this is not something that’s jumped into without a great deal of planning with finances and possible job opportunities top of the list. Do I expect it handed to me on a plate, no I expect to work hard for what I want as I always have done so you should really stop making assumptions resorting to name calling and think before you type. I deal with drivers every day in my current job and the vast majority of them are absolutely sound blokes but there’s always one isn’t there

Looking to change the tone!
How about just passing your class C and signing on to an agency or knocking on doors? :open_mouth:
The work is out there people, you only have to get off your arse…

Just passed cat c a few weeks ago, need to do 2 more days of cpc in April and I’m good to go but having said that I have agreed with my current employer to stick with them until August to get our busy period out of the way. I know of one local firm that always takes on new drivers and all their drivers praise them and will also put a word in for me, also got an opening at Stobarts as a mate works as a planner for them( 2 dirty words in one sentence it seems lol) but agencies are definitely a possibility as I live on the Cheshire/Staffordshire border I should hopefully be ok for finding something, also noticed bargain booze taking on new drivers.

I’m thinking more Zennist in the Art of Truck Driving. Kinda suits your manga avatar.

Steveindenmark you are dead right on the reversing being the most alien bit and it did take a chunk of time to my head around that. However I did find manoeuvring the extra length and the vehicle joint on the road is what did me in in the end. It takes time to get used to it and I hit the wall of the test before that familiarisation had bedded down. But everyone’s different and will have their own sweet spots.

, Hows was i to know you were a traffic planner in a office, you took the bait ,i suspect ,assume, presume , that you could not get a driving job, the advice was for some people who may not have your intelligence and want to get a foot in the door .
You are probably a planner for Stobart if you spent that much money on a licence why not use it makes sense.
you made much reverence to my ENGLISH ,yes you are correct, however since when does English written qualify for Driving a lorry.any way back to your desk bye.

Nope, I’m sorry but some people cannot drive! :open_mouth:
Be in the game for a few months and you will see drivers that don’t have spacial awareness, don’t give a ■■■■, or are just clueless…

Nope, I just speak a load of bollox, statistically some has to make some sence…

I haven’t got a clue what you’re on about, I work as a production supervisor for a textile company ( no office supplied ). By the term supervisor take that to mean general dogsbody that does everything and gets blamed when it goes wrong but very little praise :astonished: I work hard with long hours when needed for not much money but you seem to make assumptions about me a bit too easily. Nevermind though you carry on

I read a book of Zen aphorisms once and it was full of lines like that

Sorry to hear you failed, it is a massive kick in the guts isnt it. But, as others have said it really isnt the end of the world in the grand scheme of things, and if you use the tests as practice too, your next one shouldnt be as daunting as youll know what to expect  … I know its expensive lol, but by the same token you need to take the pressure off yourself and understand that plenty of people fail, youre certainly not alone there. I was looking at the pass/fail statistics for centres near me and its only just over 50% pass rate **eeeekkkk** that helped me to realise plenty of others fail, you just have to keep plugging away at it. Hope youre feeling a bit better about it now, and good luck for your next one

Just an idea, why not try getting some work driving a class 2 between now and next test? Get used to the size of them? I found C+E realitively easy, after driving C for last 4 years. Like you, I’d never towed a thing before my C+E course. Only passed that 2 weeks ago.

I think the word “read” is the most worrying part of that sentence! :open_mouth:

Thanks Trouble! theantbox - this is a good idea but I have agreed with my current employer to stay until I’ve done my test so I won’t be able to unfortunately.

I was thinking of a witty riposte to that but then remembered: he who knows does not speak, he who speaks does not know

Well I guess that says a lot about me!
