Just drop your trailer outside Middlegate

Just an observation. If the car went into that trailer ,wouldnt there be a gouge up the bonnet from the king pin ?
Fire brigade cut the roof off due to possible whiplash injuries sustained, whilst looking at the air ambulance.

im not actually sure that the trailer was involved

  1. look which way the coppers camera is facing

  2. look at the bollard immediately below said camera

  3. the trailer is on blocks under the legs. now im no rocket scientist but that would knock the trailer off its blocks. its an old tandem axle trailer so prob spring brakes. hence the blocks so unless the system is full of air = no brakes. so the trailer would have rolled backwards on impact.

  4. the neck of the trailer compared to the bonnet is about the same yet as someone else said no bonnet damage.

  5. to take that corner and go into the trailer would have to be done at some speed.look at the angle of the corner. i think it has rolled on the corner before the trailer looking at the marks on the road also.

Moving the pic to editing software and blowing it up, it can clearly be seen where the pin has gone up the bonnet just left (looking from the front) of centre. You can vaguely see it in the normal pic if you look closely.

Numpty driver!

Easy answer is to park semi-trailer’s at their operating centre or pay for a truckstop or services. Luckly no -one was killed this time.
Wouldn’t want to be a driver who caused someone death through illegally parking. Let it be a lesson to us all.

Often a need to drop trailers on the road if you’re doing a trailer swap at a customers premises where they don’t have room for two trailer in their yard. Granted it’s the law it should be illuminated at night but as long as it’s parked the right way round it’s a lot more visible than you’re average parked car.

Even the wrong way round trailers have white reflectors at the front.

Doubt the trailer would move a mm.

Even if the trailer was facing the “right” way,can anyone tell me how you keep the lights operating on a trailer when the unit has been disconnected from it?

We put batteries on some of our double-deckers so you can still operate the internal lift and lights when a unit’s not connected. We put solar panels on the roof to trickle charge them in case they get laid up for a couple of weeks .

Nice to night-out with as you don’t have to worry about the night-heater/telly flattening the unit batteries so you can’t start.
