Strange , I guess the difference between driving for them , collecting from them , but often collected from a milk place in Cornwall , name alludes me ( tight little bridge before you get to yard on right ) , and out of Shepton mallet & couldn’t meet a nice cer more helpful bunch , Keedwells at Bridgwater the same , helpful , no messing about , loaded & gone
Last time I did milk place there was que to go on bay in building so loaded me on bay round the side to get me gone

I know its bank holidays after Christmas and that, but I’ve noticed the last 4 days how utterly empty the services are. The roads are quiet too, very few supermarket trolleys even. Christmas day Strensham North and South were empty when I pulled in, yesterday a truck or two, and today, only a few trucks in Membury, and now, 9 trucks in Leigh Delamere. It seems a lot quieter than previous years.Be interesting to see if it picks up in a weeks time, or not.
I can see a1 from my living room window ( just behind those 2 houses ) , and it’s been busy all week , as busy as normal

You need to ask for a by-pass dozy.

I’ve lived here 20 yrs now & don’t even notice it ( noise ) anymore to be honest , I did when I moved it to be fair , you just get used to it
We had a few bring petitions round about the noise , but there normally from newcomers who you’d of thought would of saw the a1 was at the back of there garden when they brought there house
I like it to be honest , I can be on a1 heading north / south in mins , was idea when I worked at Newark , home in 20 mins
This is the same crap almost everywhere. The more they have to tell and remind drivers over and over how ‘‘valued’’ they are…For us going into 3rd consecutive year with no pay increase despite inflation etc. (‘‘we’re confident with our rates of pay relative to nearby competitors…’’), 1 rate for everyone and everything and they call it improvement. Here’s the hourly rate, these are the weekdays and starting times you’re going to be working - take it or leave it, I have all the local agencies on speed dial. ‘‘We exist as a business to make money, plain and simple’’ and that’s the truth
ETS:
(‘‘we’re confident with our rates of pay relative to nearby competitors…’’),
take it or leave it,
I was given this balony from my lot last year, "we pay above what everyone else pays blah blah blah. I called their bluff and handed my notice in showing my improved pay offer with my soon to be new firm. Instantly their attitude changed to “what can we pay to make you stay”!
Boiled my ■■■■ that after 2 years of constant demanding a proper pay rise that it takes me quitting to finally get that pay rise!
Did you stay once they offered a raise?

Yes. I liked the work and the hours suit me.

That’s how “Market forces” and “Price Discovery” work.
You create a shortage by withdrawing your labour at a time it is very inconvienient to do without…
Notice though that they made you prove you had the pay award pending though… “Say So” won’t cut it - they’ll call your bluff every time, or even in some cases - have a quick word with “socially friendly new employer” NOT to offer you that contract after all…
“Sorry, we made a mistake and offered the job to the wrong candidate. Accept our apologies for any upset caused. Contract of Employment offer - WITHDRAWN”.
