JLR making the Jaguar brand all electric

No one could be more anti EV than me.‘But’ if this thing was/is designed along my ( hopeful ) lines ( seperate multi pack electric motors up front and rear wheel drive ) then I’m open minded to the brave new world.
Bearing in mind there’s a good chance that I might get to drive it before it’s lucky new owner.Like the SVR range with judicious use of the … speed limiter.

Jaguar has new logos for it’s new ultra luxury brand identity with a Maker’s mark, a device mark & a monogram mark. Check out Jaguar's new look for its +$100K ultra-luxury EV lineup

No roundel with a snarling Jaguar face/head? Replaced with a cheesy Ying/Yang thing?.. … Yuk.

Assuming the same output as a V8 SVR, with the torque delivery of electric, combined with EV mechanical transmission not torque converter, the badges will do just fine. The JR badge can probably be deleted for a small payment.

The new Range Rover Sport EV getting a good run out on the Nurburgring.

Got to be more reliable now they’ve ditched those ICE lumps.

Good stuff.

Nurburgring YouTuber Micha Charoudin has done several laps in various electric cars. He is not slow in anything.

Think it’s called digging your own grave

Ironically I’d guess that a 500 hp + EV will be more of a Jaguar than a 2 litre, 4 cylinder, front wheel drive Mondeo, with a Jaguar badge stuck on it.

The type of owner who can afford to buy and run a decent JLR isn’t bothered about reliability or depreciation.
It will by definition be under a new or used factory approved warranty with a like for like loan car for as long as the job takes.
With low enough miles on it for no major engine issues. They know the EV thing will need to be bleedin good to replace the customer expectations of a 6 cylinder Ingenium or V8 SVR for example.
I’m slightly more confident that the EV thing might just work out. It’s all dependent on battery capacity and turning that into power at the wheels.
It’s the older used, independent, out of dealership warranty, end of the market that will probably be hit more by the move.
Making them far less accessible to many owners.

The Ingenium engines are, with the best will in the world…c rap.
Just my opinion.

To be fair many of the alleged issues could often be the result of expecting a 2 litre engine to do the job of and have the durability of, a 3 litre.
While it seems to be the 4 cylinder 2 litre diesel which has the most alleged problems ?.
As opposed to the 3 litre petrol.
While the older Ford based V8 petrols or diesels or even V6 petrol, don’t seem to have the tendency for self destruction of the V6 diesels.

JaGuar has released a teaser image of the back quarter of the car & indicates that it will dispense with a rear window and get a Polestar 4-style HD rear-view camera, along with “bold forms and exuberant proportions”.

WTH was the new advert for Jaguar about then!!! They spent £ millions on their rebranding image & some woke advertising agency came up with that crapolla.
They would have been better off with this.

I don’t like the new logo, but it very successful in the sense that it is getting a lot of coverage.

No such thing as bad publicity?
Higher profile and no bad technical stuff. So long as everyone is knocking the adverts and not the cars, then it is working well.

Yeah I suppose everyone is talking about it in that regard, but they probably wouldn’t want the latest news that Jaguar is forced to buy back almost 3000 iPace EV’s.

Actually it could be that the opposition are protesting laughably too much.
No one actually knows what Jaguar is working on.But hopefully they are appeasing the woke agenda in the advertising for a reason.
IE to avert the shock and awe from the lentil eating cyclists and the competition alike when the finished product actually hits the road.It obviously needs to be considerably faster and have considerably more range than a Tesla in that regard.
If anyone can do it Jaguar can.

Another leaked picture of the new Jaguar EV before the reveal. Jaguar's EV coupe-like concept has retro touches

Bearing in mind that the I Pace issue is the result of Jaguar buying in outside supply LG battery technology. In which far eastern quality standards predictably didn’t meet Jaguar customer expectations.
No surprise that Jaguar has now brought its battery supply onshore and in house.
Hopefully on course for an 800 hp, let alone 600 hp, XJ and F Pace Tesla killer.

Who the hell in their right mind wants/needs 800bhp ? Absolutely ridiculous. I’m old but I can still make 'em ‘nip along’ a bit when it’s needed, my car has 200 + and I reckon that’s quite enough for normal people.

Agreed, There are family EV’s with as much HP as a supercar, What is the point of that? Put the tech into longer range rather than the 0-60mph time instead.
