Thanks Ian, have sent an email staking my claim. I had a good Christmas other than going completely deaf in one ear a few days before due to a punctured eardrum, made a bit of a nonsense of the surround sound system I treated myself to! Never mind. It should be OK in a few weeks, worse things happen at sea. Hope you had a good one, happy new year
Bernard
good morning graham thanks for your post and the information on the Jensen, it would be great if we could have feed back from somone who might have drove one of these trucks ,i would like to find out what made them such a popular truck.
kind regards ian.
ps:glass started to go in the Jensen now next is the bright work then the signwriting all exciting stuff.
Hi from the Netherlands. I am a big fan of all Jensen Motors Ltd. products i.e. cars and lorries and until recently chairman of our club jensenholland.nl
Having found this forum this weekend I joined immediately as I am very interested in the JNSN trucks, Jen-Tug tractor units, buses, as well as the Jensen Tempo vans.
Please allow me to correct the spelling, this should read Jensen with ‘e’. The lorries were built under the JNSN brand name, featuring the distinctive logo in the grille.
Jensen was not only a pioneer in alloy chassis but also in fibreglass, starting with glass cabin roofs, engine covers and grille panels, later even whole fiberglass cabs. This is a photo of this cab.
Anyway, the KR crew restoration is fantastic, as this truck is an important one. Jensen historian Richard Calver of Australia (a good friend of mine) has published several books on the marque and he wrote: It is the prototype of the extra long wheelbase model in 1955. It is chassis nr. 991. Ferraris of Crickelwood sold quite a few of these.
Eagerly awaiting photos of the finished truck !!
BTW Jensen built thousands of commercial vehicles for amongst others Austin as sub-contractor, such as the Austin Gipsy, K8 pick-up etc.etc. During the war they were ordered to built many rescue vehicles, fire engines, trailers and the like for the Home Office.
If anyone has more information about Jensen vehicles built during WW 2 I would be most grateful. Fordson 7V Tangye Heavy Units, Austin rescue vehicles, trailers, tank turrets anything is welcome.
Good Morning Han, thank you for pointing out the spelling mistake, i must have had a senior moment.
it is really good of you to post info on the Jensen thank you for that the restoration of the Walsh brothers is coming along fine the glass is a little hard to fit at the moment as the roof was in really poor state ,but true to form Kenny and Ray will have it beat.
i look forward to hearing from you again Han good luck with your research in the future .
Hi Ian,
I have this photo in my files of a similar truck, is this the same one?
Having seen the photos in your website I am truly impressed by the skill and the amount of work you have put into this project. I know what it is like having restored several Jensen cars myself… see below.
You guys did an awesome job! I took the liberty to post this to various Jensen clubs around the world, even as far as Oz and the US, and all are excited.
Yours is one of only 6 JNSN believed to survive and possibly the only cab forward model.
Are you planning of sign writing it in the Raymond Way livery? If you do, would it be much work to alter to tow hook aperture to resemble the original?
Also the ribbed bed was filled with wood inserts and sometime during its life the wrap around bumper/spoiler has gone lost. Would that be difficult to reproduce.
It would really finish off the truck
That’s a superb-looking car, Han. No doubt you will be aware that our Princess Anne had a succession of Intercepters which she claimed were one of the finest cars in the world.
Hi Han and thank you for the photo, Kenny Walsh recons that this could be the Vehicle that they have restored. would you have the information as to where the photo was taken and what was the date this picture was taken .
Kenny mentioned that the roof was damaged on the vehicle and the front grill was damaged in the same place’ when the owner acquired it and the flap on the body was missing which covers the spare Tyre.the vehicle was dry stored in a barn in SCOTLAND for about 15 years up to Kenny and Ray the brothers finding it. this has so far been a 6 month project for them.( part time of course).
thank you again Han for your information i look forward to hearing from you again soon.
R O F, thanks for the compliment. It took me 4 years to get this Jensen 541 back to this shape.
Indeed I know princess Anne loved the Interceptor.
Many rich and famous Brits and Americans did like Jensen too; John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Ginger Baker, Henry Cooper (boxer), Phil Read (motorbike racer) to name but a few.
The 4WD version, the Jensen FF in particular attracted many more celebrities.

good luck the kr crew from Manchester England.
Sorry Ian, I cannot recall exactly where or when I got this picture from. I have had this for at least 6 years and believe to have found it in a forum somewhere. This was when I heard that it used to be a dragster transporter. Since then I was curious what had become of it.
Here is another photo of an abandoned JNSN lorry that I know nothing of:
Looking at the various photos posted and the ones I have on file I noticed that there is a big difference in front end layout between the trucks of different years.
Just look at the height of the headlights, the position of the sidelights, but also the grille panel differs. Interesting, I never noticed that before.
Good morning Han,
from a very wet Manchester this morning.
I have spoken to Kenny this morning and he mentioned that you had contacted him via" the web site e-mail, i hope you and the other clubs enjoy the sites and that you find the renovations that the brothers have done to be interesting?
I started doing video diaries of the renovations a couple of years ago with a tongue in cheek commentary to give a rough interpretation of the time scale involved to complete the projects the brothers Kenny And Ray seem to have a natural flare for getting the worst projects on the planet ‘well in England anyway lol’ and creating a masterpiece time after time.
What other restorers find amazing is the speed and quality of the projects it really is a credit to their individual skills.
your 541 is beautiful and i am sure the hours behind the car would run into the hundreds.
Well thanks again Han and thank you for the photos.
i hope your week has been a good one ?
the Jensen has been sign written by John, He is the the person responsible for the superb displays on all of the Kr Walsh brother renovations .
still got some of the bright work to finish on the front grill and the spats’ but the old girl is getting closer to her first day out once she is fully restored again .
