we are busy as ever in the Retail side of things…folk with nothing better to do on Boxing Day will be queuing up waiting for our stores to open up
still,keeps me in work
Tude:
Moderation and having to tow the publishers line has seen the best days of this board gone, it is now so PC and sterile that it has killed itself.
The craic has gone, left the building, the over zealous mods have seen to that.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
+1
that sums it up nicely there.
its a pity about the no fun police on patrol but it passes the time now and again.
i quite often write a post then read it and think,…no,il never get away with that one, then do the same two or three times till i water it down enough to hopefully pass muster.
I seem to remember a similar thread last year and maybe the previous year too. The days when the supermarkets suddenly realised that it’s November and we need extra stock for all those stupid people who fill three trolleys with food because the store is closed on Christmas day.
They (the stores) are much better at planning these days and all the long-dated stuff is in the depots well in advance. No doubt there will be panic deliveries of Brussels sprouts and cream cakes next week, but that’s about it.
Healthcare/medical here, so it’s business as usual with the normal increase due to cold weather, 'flu etc.

Sometimes though the supermarket buyers* get their forecasts wrong and extra supplies of a particular line are needed. I’ve often run over 8 hours empty this time of the year to get particular loads in.

*if they get the forecasts wrong too often, they’re sacked, and have to work as political pollsters.
We’re a lot quieter than we should be for the time of year.
Don’t think it’s just that I’m older with no kids around but I just don’t think Christmas is what it was kids have so much all year round and also with the Christmas treat foods like chocolates and stuff people eat a lot more of that type of thing all year round.
Woman in our office was saying everything her kids had asked for this year was downloads of one sort and another so she didn’t have any wrapping much to do which means there’s a lot of presents and wrapping paper that don’t need moving around by road.

Chocolate itself - ain’t what it used to be.
It is more “Chocolate flavour” these days, with unsold plastic tubs of quality street, roses, celebrations et al not exactly “flying off the shelves” despite the price tag of a fiver being in real terms “the cheapest christmas chocs have ever been” - surely?
Last week Friday was cancelled at the last moment, but still managed 4/5 shifts, other than that it’s been pretty continuous since the beginning of the year. This week I’m winding down & only doing 4 days with tomorrow (Thursday) being my last shift before Christmas. I’m heading to Leeds Friday night to see a band then Monday morning I fly out to Cyprus

…On this board of late. Does that mean that everyone is now working flat out■■?Sound off everyone - how busy are YOU in your particular region right now?
Are you going to vote against your incumbent MP in next week’s election as well?
“Change or No Change in our time”.
It’s quiet on this board because of the enormous amount of drivel that is now the new norm. Most of the best posters have simply got bored of this place and clearly don’t bother anymore.
Can’t really blame them tbh, used to be a good laugh on here
It’s even quieter on Bully’s Bar I notice. Let’s see if anyone re-appears once the post mortem kicks in after tomorrow…
I suspect quite a few of us will be moaning “unlucky for some”…
I just hope I’m not among them!
