Well done. Pete
Congrats mate.
Best feeling ever isn’t it? I’m still smiling about it now a week later.
Good luck with the job hunting.

thank-you all very much for your kind words. i am on top of my world just now. however i’ve just got home from a late shift on the rigid so it was back to earth with a bump this afternoon.
i was more than happy with my test, even after a bit of a nervy drive to the test centre. my instructor was hard on me on the way over and i remember he was just the same on my cat c test, so i tried not to take it to heart. i tested at kirkham which for those of you who don’t know the area, lets say it’s the outskirts of blackpool and lytham. 8:30am isn’t a bad test time in my opinion. I got a bit of school traffic which kept my progress slow to begin with but most of the commuter traffic had already cleared. the minors were mainly for ob’s, mirror, and planning. I know I left one junction a bit late. The reverse went well and i didn’t need the shunt i was prepared to take.
so all was going well upto getting back to the test centre for the uncouple/recouple. i lined up for the uncouple, left the cab, and applied the trailer brake… b l a c k i’m thinking is all you need to remember… next stop legs… well here’s where i got into a bit of a pickle. i extended the handle and begun to wind… nothing… wind the other way… nothing… heck what am i doing wrong… has the trailer had a mechanical… oh not now… please. by this time you can imagine i’m starting to flap a bit. i turned to the examiner to here a muffled cough and …ratio… engage… ahhh right i’ve got… boy did i feel a twit. quick pull or push on the spindle, can’t remember which and hey presto down wind the legs…
so now for the rest of the exercise my bottom is twitching like a rabbits nose thinking… how can you reverse fine, drive the test route fine (i hope) and throw it all away right at the end of the test with something a stupid as that. i recoupled, we checked the electrics and oh my i was sweating right upto the point he got in the cab and said you’ve passed. . . . .
anyway that’s enough of my rambling, i’m hoping my gaffer will let me loose in one of the cf’s this week. and to any of you who have a test upcoming, try to relax, easier said than done… i know
Thanks all
wayne
Congratulations man!
The worst feeling for me was also getting into a flap over the uncouple/recouple! its nightmare, I did the test route then had to do the reverse and the uc/rc upon returning. I hated that because you know you could muck it all up at the very end! For anyone about to go on test its as you say: its all about relaxing, and most of the examiners are more helpful than you think!
But seriously though, well done!
Kian.
