Made loads of mega balls ups, but a lot of older drivers helped me a lot
Same here rob, made some right ■■■■ ups. David Smith was his name, real old school driver, rope and sheet man, nothing he couldnt do/ hadnt done. Helped me out no end and de zb’ ed some of the bigger ■■■■ ups for me…
There’s something in this thread… the whole “learning from someone else” thing. Unfortunately that doesn’t happen nowadays. On the job training is largely pants and there is a rush to get a bum on a seat and take a chance on a mess up not happening rather than outlay money to show people properly in the first place.
Now whether this thread is a wind up or not i don’t really care and I’m not one to shout sock puppet at every new poster but I think some of the replies to this chap have been over the top. Likewise some have been very helpful too though.
Here’s a lad who on face value is trying to find his way and is willing to ask questions. Do we not collectively have a duty to help him or shall we bemoan the standard of new drivers continuously whilst doing ■■■■ all to help them?

Yeh mine eh?
Make no mistake mate if I thought this guy was genuine I would have been one of the first to help him out with whatever he wanted to know, which I have done countless times both on here and in real life.
He just did not ring true with me
Call me old fashioned, but I’ve just got an aversion to being made a ■■■■ out of.
If I am wrong, (which I wholly doubt) I will apologise.

No mate not just yours. There’s been a few and maybe justified if there’s an element of tomfoolery going on.
But its not making a ■■■■ out of you is it? I’d say a grown man pretending to be another grown man on an internet forum is the one making a ■■■■ of himself
However im still giving the lad a chance because I’ve got no reason not to.

Where I work we pull A-frame trailers. People are never trained to reverse them. When we get to the collection unless otherwise agreed it’s a drive in drive out job only no reversing. Same when we get to the depot drop the trailer and let the tug put it onto the bay.
We have one or two collections that require reversing but the majority of the drivers can’t do it. Think only one or two can. It’s crazy every driver should be know how to safely reverse a truck and trailer or not be allowed on the road.

Safety boots only protect toes, and maybe, heels .
Labdrover in Solihull is fascinating. Buy it’s very hard for someone like me. I have to drive in Tom get my pallets off and there’s nearly no room! And everyone isn’t DHL rather than land rover!
Being super carefully today and haven’t crashed! Working til 6am and then straight to uni. Suppose that’s what they invented monster for.

Oh yes I see that now thanks, my excuse is I’ve been awake too long …
Don’t worry, we can all agree that last post was pretty much garbage ending with a joke about being at uni.

You obviously didn’t get what I meant. You said FLT v Foot and the person was wearing safety boots. The injury is on the side of the foot, safety shoes don’t really protect that part of the foot do they, which was my point. If the FLT had caught his toes or heel, probably wouldn’t have been such an injury, if any at all.

More chance of uni being open on Sat morning than after six on a Friday though
