Is artic driving a viable career option?

Remember that driving is a way of life ( or use to be not a career )

It is not the same as it use to be the wages have gone down a lot especially since the 80’s ( still get the same rate now as we did back then ) so not a lot of money in it & it cost a lot more for the licence of course now there are a lot more rules & regulations now

I still enjoy the driving but some of the standard of other drivers well leave that for another day wouldnt change it to be honest

The hardest part is getting a job more so if under 25 due to insurance ( but has always been like that so nowt new there ) same as the 2year experience

Here where I am the average rate of pay is £7.50 ph for CE this is flat rate no overtime paid

Just a quick bump… I’ve just been offered a better-paid design job elsewhere so I’ll see how that goes before considering HGV driving as a career. I’m still thinking about going for the licence soon though

And that doesn’t happen very often in road haulage :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers all, hopefully this thread will also be useful to others considering a career change
