Is American HGV experience recognized in United Kingdom?

And you speak it very well, you just cannot spell it

well spotted

I know, pathetic isn’t it. It’s just that sometimes I get fed up of members arguing about stuff that will never affect them. I mean, who cares how hard it is to get into any other country when you have no intention of going there to live?
Why are we expats when everyone else is an immigrant?
Why do those that want to move to a former colony only look at predominantly white countries, you don’t get many questions about getting a job in Mumbai or harare do you?

Having been refused entry into the colonies in question when it mattered in my case I think I’m qualified to moan about the situation that stopped me.

As for the colour issue the ethnic British culture not only obviously has an inherent ability to create a modern developed society in those areas it colonises, thereby making them familiar not alien places worth living in.But it also just happens to be white in colour.Get over it.

Way to much off topic…
A little update on the subject. I just got back from the driving school, I was given 3 books to read and prepare myself for the driving practice, written exam and the driving test(will be at least after 1 month). I also made an appointment for psychological test, without successful passing I will not be allowed to train on a lorry. In BG a cat. C driver have to pass psychological test every 3 years if he/she is under 65 and every year if the driver is above 65.

The 2 books with the Mercedes picture on the cover are 250 pages each. They are about road rules and loads/paperwork, the green one is about driving hours, rest rules and EU regulations. The small booklet on the left is about the most important a driver has to know about driving hours/rest and fines in euros and lev.
Probably some people are buying driving licences under the table, but the majority of the drivers are responsible and law abiding people like me. Please don’t put all EE drivers under one umbrella.

P.S. I forgot to add, I’ll be driving 8spd manual(4 over 4). After talking with the instructor and sharing my US experience with him, he sad driving the Euro truck is going to feel like car driving to me :grimacing:

Maybe some of these countries aren’t as daft as I thought, whoever it was definitely dodged a bullet there. Maybe you should have worked towards getting a job or trade they wanted, rather than just expecting to be let in because we used to run them.

I actually had a job offer driving a truck based in Canada :unamused: ( this isn’t a site for aero engineers or surgeons ).But ‘the rules’ ,as they stood in the 1980’s,were the same there as they’ve been,at least up to very recently, in the US.The word is that Canada is now gradually going back to that situation,at least for Brits.

ye been in canada ten yrs now sowly been getting harder for guys wanting to make move over plus its not the easy gr8 life that they say it can be ok but as a driver here u will earn your money anyway gd luck im of to tennessee 2moro

Thanks, hard work, persistence and positive attitude always payed off for me.

I’m curious about something, as I have never driven a Euro truck, when shifting does the gear box require applying the clutch pedal at every gear change, like on a car?

Almost all manual gearboxes on European trucks are syncromesh so will require using a clutch, but it’s very likely that you’ll end up driving an automatic truck and most won’t even have a clutch pedal.

nearly any euro truck you be in wi be automatic m8 ye taffy usualy park in petro w. memphis and short taxi ride in .flying to vegas on 28th dec for ten days to escape canadian winter

Thanks for the info. Well I’ve driven manuals(most of the time) and automatics in the States, I’ cant describe you how happy I was in rush hour Friday’s in LA or NYC. To pass New York at one point it took me 6 hours :imp: , had to pee in a Gatorade bottle behind the sleeper curtains  while sitting in the traffic
