I cannot understand why anyone would want to live anywhere else. I’ve been offered a job driving in Canada, turned it down as it’s far too cold. Been to Australia and tbh I wouldn’t live there, I didn’t like it that much & it rained all the time, might as well stay here. Never been to NZ but the wife’s mate moved there 10 years ago, it’s fine if you liked living in the 70s, her description. I go to the states on holiday regularly & I love it, but live there full time, no thanks.
I do find it odd though that the many people on here that despise immigrants, and there are many, would want to become one themselves. You obviously don’t have the same drive those in Calais have.

In short, its bloody hard to get out of the UK into Canada/USA/Aus/NZ, unless they ACTUALLY want you.
In my opinion its not hard at all for UK citizens to emigrate to AUS, its just hard for truck drivers. The skill list on DIBP website is huge, you just have to posses the right skills/experience and age, many UK citizens emigrated to AUS from what I read.

The issue is the selectively applied movement of labour rules between ‘Commonwealth’ countries.
The obvious question being the double standards,of our open door free movement of labour system, regarding the underdeveloped ‘Commonwealth’ countries. While closing the door to free movement of the indigenous workforce between the more developed ones like Canada and Australia.
While it seems equally obvious that the whole situation has descended into a big cheap labour scam which applies quotas and selective criterea which prioritises the movement of low wage expectation workforces on the basis of the lowest bidder.Which explains why it is easier for Asians to emigrate to Canada or Australia than Brits.Or for that matter the free movement of Afro and Asian Commonwealth labour into UK but the same doesn’t apply regards from UK into Oz and Canada.
As for America the fact that East Euros let alone Brits aren’t welcome,in favour of Indians, says everything. The fact is the ethnic Brit population is being discriminated against everywhere both at home and in its ex colonies because of its higher wage expectations.

You’ve missed the fact that we aren’t actually ‘immigrants’ at all in our ex colonies like Canada and Australia. Those countries are ( should be ) as British as home.Which was actually the case not so long ago when we actually had free movement between all those countries.

Oh yeah I forgot that, try telling that to the French Canadiens. I think you’ve missed your own point, what do you think “ex” means? But if you’re thinking of leaving then let us know, I’m sure you’ll get all the help you need.

So does that mean those in our ex colonies are not immigrants when they come here?

Why would ethnic Brits be considered as immigrants here.

Now independently ‘governed’ ‘colonies’ doesn’t change the fact that we are still one ‘nation’ based on a definition of Jus Sanguinis.
As for Quebecois that doesn’t change ( what should be ) free movement of Brits in all the other provinces.

From what I’ve heard on the CB the pay is [zb]. What was it the op said $0.37 cpm team driving to sod that. That means the truck is more or less moving all day. One sleeping one driving it ain’t much fun. But also its drivers like him willing to work for that amount that keeps the wages low for the rest.A lot of Americans were driving for the same wage, economy was tight few years ago when I did my driving. If we refuse to drive for that wage someone else will as I have seen it. Actually we were pulling as a third party for a Canadian company which had contract with auto manufacturing giant. Blame someone along the line, not just the driver…
When I was team driving a few years ago I was paid a lot more then $0.37. It might have been the going rate for you but no driver I know would get out of bed for that.
I’ve heard drivers boasting of being on good money then find out its $0.35cpm !!!
Canada ain’t always cold. For the last few weeks apart from the odd day here n there its been up in the 30s where I live. I think you been watching to mu h IRT if you think it’s cold all the time.
You ask just about any ex pat over here if they could have the same standard lifestyle back in the UK and the answer is probably no.

Don’t forget, Brits are not immigrants, they are expats

As I said assuming places like Australia and Canada which were built on Brit cash and Brit efforts and populated on an ethnic Brit colonial basis neither is the correct description.
America is a slightly different matter probably not helped by the typical actions of the the Hanover dynasty Redcoat zb’s there which understandably blighted the relationship.

British immigrants to Spain, Italy or Bulgaria or any other country for that matter are calling themselves expats, even though they work/live/retire in this countries. I have never herd a British person to call him/her self an immigrant.

There is no way a couple of weeks at 30+ would compensate for months at temps below zero. Anyone that willingly goes to live in an area where -10 would not be considered unusual needs their heads looking at. You can keep your lifestyle, I’ll keep mine.
And what is the difference between an expat & an immigrant anyway?

The difference being that history justifies the idea of free movement between ethnic Brit colonies and the homeland regardless of their now ‘administrative’ independence.
Wether Germany would have been prepared to be folded up and handed over as an Israeli state,as payback for the Holocaust, would onbviously have been a different matter.

So you’re saying it’s right that Brits are denied free movement between the colonies and the home country and by the same standard Germany should be abolished as a nation and made the Jewish state.

Don’t worry about it matey, talking crap is his forte, he thinks arguments are won by the constant repetition of his brand of self centred garbage, until normal people get fed up of it, leaving him as the “winner”, and I’ve already won cash from the same type of reply on another thread, he’s so predictable he’s a cliche.
