i’m pretty sure i said summat similar to this earlier — put simply the firm is having to resort to factoring cos they haven’t got the cash in the bank. without the funds in the bank then no one is getting anything until such times as that firm is back in the black. rikki tell them to stop and get out of the system they’re in - there’s only one way that they’re going to go.
every job i’ve ever done i’ve been paid at the end of the week (this for me is part of the rules) - if i’m not then i go elsewhere until i am paid and then i make a decision based on previous experience as to whether or not i’ll go back to them, don’t see why i should have to wait for some desk jockey to decide when i should be paid. at last firm i worked for (before xmas) i kept their rig on my driveway for a week cos they didn’t pay on time. the place i’m at now always pay on friday morning without fail - think some one told them what happened prior to xmas.

Has anyone held back goods due to unpaid invoices?
Has anyone ever threatened to hold back goods?
It’s in the RHA regs stating that you can. Or at least it used to be.
Yep
A nice Austrian firm used to load me out of Belgium, they had a warehouse near Jabbeke, as they could get better backloads from there than the UK, anyway the cheques never arrived and I was knocked
So I waited a while and then called them up as another company, faxed them over a load of moody paperwork and they asked me to ship four trailers over unaccompanied (not on their account of course
) and they would send them back loaded, I went to TIP, rented four trailers and shipped them over, they came back and I got them out the dock and made a phone call to Austria, telling them who I was and explaining that I had just bought the company that had shipped the four trailers over
The short version is that they were made aware that the trailers were going nowhere until I was paid in full for all past invoices and prepaid for the four trailers, i was told to ■■■■ off, so I contacted the company who made the stuff and told them the situation, they transferred the money owed, the price of the jobs that were on the four trailers and the trailer rental charges into the bank that day and their trailers got delivered
I was out of pocket a bit, I forgot to charge them for the number plates that I had made with moody trailer numbers on them
You live and learn
