there are lots of things that cannot be strapped to the bed without damaging the product.what am I supposed to do?..refuse to do half the work I am given.
hows about vosa fining the companies who dont package their goods to enable secure strapping instead of the hapless driver, who has very little say in the matter
I’m taking the risk running without straps for now. It’s certainly gonna add to the work load as I don’t often have to open the curtains and the trailers are sometimes pre loaded.
this is how we have had to strap our loads since getting a verbal warning off vosa last June bottom (orange) strap is crossed over to internal hook on opposite side and ratcheted down tight to stop rearward movement with the roof straps everything should stay in place so should keep Vosa happy !

That little lot looks a bit heavy for a puddle-jumper with a tail lift. I suppose those roof straps LOOK nice, but are they actually doing very much?

All vosa would do in this case is to offer advice on better strapping if those pallets are over 400 kg as at least he’s made the effort and it looks like he’s tried.

weight shown on internal gauge 7420 with me on board on scales at destination 7430 so within legal specs drives ok just means have to take things steady pulls alright up the hills when loaded like this actualy more stable when heavy . re the straps told to use the roof straps when we got the warning by vosa and also fasten the load to the pallet hence the ott shrink wrapping not that it will make much difference with some items but shows an attempt to secure was made
They reckon you’re not meant to use internal straps to support a load full stop. If you’ve made the effort with internals and its the first time you’ve been pulled up about it then you’ll be sent on your way with a warning to use ratchets.
Get pulled again with internals and its fine time. That 7.5 tonner above has got fine written all over it.
As for load bearing curtains: doesn’t the load have to be within 3’’ of the side on the whole entire length? Might be wrong.

funny that as VOSA (M60 jn 20 ) told us to use the internals and we would be fine the orange strap that runs from the front hook to the opposite rear hook and is ratcheted tight prevents the pallet moving the internal stops the load shifting off the pallet as does the shrink wrap . so far we havent had any problems with loads shifting when strapped like this will see what happens when and if we get a pull

This is complete ball locks.
Even the Germans don’t require light loads to be strapped.
Yes they do my mate got done two weeks ago on b10 in sprintervan
Hard side not a curtain 3 pallets of boxes securley wrapped and security taped
Was made to strap it and 30 euro fine and i saw the receipt so not a mmtm

ok peeps,if you can strap all the pallets then do so,or otherwise carry platic numbered seals which can be bought on ebay cheap and if using a curtainsider seal rear/front and middle off curtains and the back doors with a total off 7 seals.if you get stopped by the vostapo tell them you can not open the curtains or rear doors as it is a high value load and if the seals have been tampered with the load gets refused costing my company and insurer 250k plus…if that doesn’t work tell em to fkc off!
Guy on here or might of been fb
Got pulled month or so back m4j18
