Interesting Article on EE Driver Migration and Wages

Exactly…I know plenty of people who went to work in Germany and Holland in the late 70s - early 80s. Some went for the laugh, some to keep their family’s roof over their heads…some of the same people now complain about ‘foreigners taking our jobs’.

How quickly they forget.

Driving is more or less an unskilled profession and if Ivan from Plovdiv can do what you do for a third of the cost, it might be time for some self-evaluation.

Nice to see at least someone - just one… person apart from me who also says truth on here.

Could not have said better myself, spot on.

And by the way, milodon, UK does not have sick pay as such by default, government contributes only so called statutory sick pay which is very small amount… that’s for the normal poor people professions… any other sick pay is as a bonus for professional normal jobs and company pay that out from their own pocket it’s not like in your country or scandi or even mainland Europe where sick pay comes as standard in from taxes

so yeah UK employment laws are way way below eastern European standards  they just don’t have balls or brains to admit that…

and that is only for paye self employed and Ltd drivers in UK neither get holidays or sick pay or anything to be clear…

well inthe 60s,you couldnt move for paddys building the M1 and the likes, it the 80s it was oil rigs, and auf weiderschen for as much cash as possible and now its the flipflops turn to cream it in because the goverments allow them to.
15 years ago in dublin for example plasterers were making fortunes by charging something like 15 quid a sq meter and subbying it to polesfor 8,then after a cpl of years the poles were established enough to be charging 10 a sq meter direct and taking all the work from the paddys, who then in turn had to start charging 8 a sq meter otherwise they were out of work…sounds just like road haulage to me with the rated chpped to death and busy poor men working for scraps.

Human nature…everyone would rather be a Mr 10% than do any work themselves.

I once ‘followed a load’ down through the sub-contracting chain. The client paid a good rate to the logistics co, and it was then subbed to a transport co, who subbed it to another co, who gave it to an owner-driver who did all the work and made the least money.

Then there was a certain ‘orange/explosive’ company which won some specialist work off a friend of mine on price…realised there was no way they could do it for that money, and tried to sub it back to him for half what he was doing it for originally!
