This thread is spooky
I just moved that little outburst to the bin and everything connected with it which was nothing to do with the thread. Just incase anyone else is going to ask !!! ![]()
Sorry am I reading this wrong?
You went for interview - asks you to start and wants to see some ID and licence when you’ll be ducking off with his £100,000 motor to Spain for 6 weeks?

You are mate. interview over phone offered him job and asked for personal details to be posted
No interview took place because he never contacted me after Sunday and won’t pick up his phone it goes through to voice mail. The photo of the truck belongs to another company. He has probably scammed lots of drivers via gumtree.
Address on the trailer is:
Cloburn Transport
■■? Mill Farm
Longtown
■■■■■■■
Cloburn’s website does not have any vacancies for drivers…
Gumtree is getting a fair bit of flack of late as eBay own it but won’t give the consumer the protection it gives on the main eBay site
Oh right I get you now. Bugger that.
I spoke to Cloburn Transport Ltd today but they tell me they no longer own that truck
But said thanks for letting know about the scam
Time to alert the police then ?
I love these adverts, genuine or otherwise, that think it’s more important to mention that the truck has tv, fridge fitted, and …fancy curtains, but do not mention the most important part, the wage. ![]()

I should say so.

+1
If you were a scammer though, would you want to attract someone who is a bit switched on and focused on the important things, ie the wage? Someone who’ll likely see your scam for what it is immediately?
Or would you rather attract an imbecile? An easy target? Someone who’ll drop his ■■■■■■■ at the first mention of some frilly curtains?
Surely any job these days that involves you spending money merely to attend interview is wide open to being a scam?
Mind you, one could argue that of the genuine job ads out there - one doesn’t get to see “Local applicants only need apply” - since it would be a dead giveaway that the pay is grim indeed… Firms don’t like to talk about pay before you turn up do they? - Would save the said “genuine applicants” a lot of wasted time if the truth were out at the very beginning… Everyone is saying there’s “no trouble in filling minimum wage jobs” these days, so why some gaffers feel they have to bullshine everyone along I don’t know… ![]()
I got my job via Gumtree, but many jobs on there sound dodgy in their wording. One job around here wanted a tipper/grab driver. The photos used by the advertiser of “his” trucks were clearly lifted from a Commercial Motor advert (you could see the price of one truck in the window) and in the background were stacks of similar vehicles.
“No time wasters” means they don’t want to be questioned on wages, maintenance etc.
Drivers who advertise themselves for work don’t do themselves favours either; Some adverts look like they’ve been written by a child “I just past test, job wanted” type ads appear
quite often.
