Information and do's & donts!

Not long been on this site, but browsing through all the topics here i find it remarkable the amount of information, do’s & dont’s that can be found here! As a newbie to this civvy trucking lark this site has given me more info etc than any course or well meaning boss! Saved my bacon a couple of times and corrected a few things i was doing wrong, but only slightly wrong! Love the honesty of admitting mistakes, a valuable site to all newbies! Thanks all!

Always admit the mistakes, it may make you feel like a fool, but you can guarantee many on here have already mucked it up before you! And they may have some sound advice, in amongst all the mickey taking too…

This site would have been an absolute god send when I first passed 15 years odd ago, particularly the coupling/uncoupling threads unfortunately I just had to blag my way through most of the learning curve, still no major F ups so far.

Forget the DCPC just get blokes to trawl this site for nuggets.

I’ve been on the site for just over a year now & usually learn something every day, as well as leaving some advice for others.

Its an extension to normal day to day driving & delivering, where you chat with other drivers (some of it good advice, some of it not so good & a lot of it Funny :stuck_out_tongue: )

don’t start two thread topics exactly the same
thanks

Hi Darktower,

You started two topics that have the same titles

…, but you’re not the first to do that.

I’ve merged the two topics into one.

If you ■■■■ up, you ■■■■ up…better to admit it and take the flack than to be later proved to be a liar and untrustworthy. I learn’t that lesson the hard way (sacked) as a youngster and have always held my hands up when I do something daft.

I know, i know, no excuse, not the most literate of computer operators! However, did rebuke myself when i realised!

Yep this place has been invaluable for me getting back in to trucking after 10 years away.

Perhaps Jaupt could add this to one of the dCPC modules. i.e 7 Hours viewing and posting on TNUK counts as a 14 due to double the amount of knowledge gained. I could spend an hour (and have) on the 'In cab ■■■■■■■ ’ thread alone.

We all make mistakes and it takes a real man to own up to them, unfortunately I’m not a real man so have never made a mistake.

If it’s icy or slippy conditions, slow down before the bend.

When you’re picking trailers up in the dark always double check it’s hooked up proper and the lights work.

Try not to get distracted whilst doing things.

Wash your hands before you eat  Preferably with soap too…

Best tip I ever had on artics is regarding reversing and it was simply.

Take a breath.
