I'm 22 and wondering how far I can get

Well done Seth lol! If you read through this thread properly instead on jumping the gun it pretty much says who I’m working for lol. And every thought I was lying lol.

You all have about a hour to figure it out. Then I’m deleting this thread. No one has even helped me in the actual question I asked. Just jumped straight on to money.

Is it no your bed time

James you are on very good money, but I think the job will become boring after a while for a young guy like you.

As I see it you have 2 options:

  1. Stay where you are and use the money wisely to buy some houses at auction to rent out. Plan to retire at 40 - 50. Drive round in a £500 diesel van for now.

  2. Look for more challenging work, though it won’t necessarily pay any more, maybe not even as much.

Car transporters. Not the money it used to be, but still quite good.

Have a snoop around youtube for “heavy haulage.” Will mean being away a lot, no better money than now, if as good, but as sure as hell interesting and a new challenge every day.

As one poster pointed out: train driving = good dough, short hours.

Couple of other thoughts:

Formula 1 race teams.

Stobarts have many niche opportunities.

Many drivers on here think there is nothing else available other than trundling boxes down the A14 for £7.50 an hour.

Wish I was your age again with an HGV license and no ties.

I’m sure you’ll get where you want to be eventually whether it be tankers, nuclear waste or America but in the mean time enjoy your work at Tesco Livingston

Formula 1 may be something you’ll enjoy, no idea about money on that kind of gig though.

Very true

Theres a Tesco dc near me seen them advertising starting salary 31k so with overtime and working unsociable shifts 41k isnt unreasonable.

So, you did a year and then got out! on what grounds medical or admin?

My original intention was to help but then you started spouting rubbish.
Nuff said.

A line of progression that is often ignored is to go into training or management. I’ve done both and not regretted it all. But, before attempting either, I would suggest a minimum of 10 years driving with as much variety as possible.

Certainly with training, nights out are virtually a thing of the past (I did have one this week - first one for about 6 months) whereas with management, it could be shifts that are inhuman.

Just a thought.

Pete

How did I spout rubbish? I answered you question honestly. I told you how I got out and you just went on a abusive rampage. That wasn’t help at all.

Thanks guys for the other thoughts! Some great ideas I need to think about! Didn’t even think about f1!! Or management. Or even using money to get into property’s! Even big bands need there equipment lugged around! Something’s are worth more than money.

Thank you to the guys that have answered my question and have showed me there are some decent people that are out there driving. You the kind of people I’d love to work with and learn as much from as I possibly can! Honestly thank you.

Not tescos pal. Aldi  thanks for saying its possible.

Are you in a managerial/supervisor role at Aldi or is that a night rate? Just curious mate. Thinking about it, I think your earnings are probably quite accurate.

Having delivered to Aldi’s, some of the busier shops do have night staff (that work extremely hard in small numbers) and it wouldn’t surprise if they were on £12-£13ph given Aldi’s standards for wages. If your getting 12 hours a night (say from 8pm closing - 8am the next morning) you would be earning nearly £800 a week.

Bs

Up here Aldi drivers are on slightly less than that

as you said you work 52 weeks a year take it you dont have holidays so they pay you for it as some dont that all

Yep there are some decent folk on here but please dont go upsetting them

No not a supervisor or anything, I’m a hgv driver out of the depot in Chelmsford. It’s 13.22 for the first year then 15 pound something for your second year then normal pay rises every February. I start my shift at 10.30pm and is usually work 12 hour shifts. Do 2 runs a night, sometimes the runs can be split so you hit 2 stores on one run. You have to load and unload yourself but I don’t mind  and they are putting me through my cpc too. Really nice bunch of lads, really enjoy it there. I had to do 3 months agency trail with them before I started and was on 11 pound but it was worth it in the long run.

Ah, didn’t realise you were actually a driver, thought your were a shop worker wanting to become a driver hence my initial doubts about your earnings. My bad.

My advice though would be to stay at Aldi if your clearing £40K, enjoy the work & have a work-life balance your happy with. I’d be in the pension scheme and keeping my feet firmly under the table, but then I’m not an overly ambitious person just like an easy life  Each to their own…

I live in Billericay and i drive petrol tankers as a limited driver, I earn between 700 and 1000 pounds take home a week.PM me if you want some proper advice!

I dont think you can do 8hrs for cpc mate im sure its 7. As our teacher/ talker micky taker what ever they are called said its 7 hrs no more no less so might be 8 with an hr scram
