Those Hamburger lights can’t be that old, we have brand new Krone Ferry trailers with them on.
Theyve been around for a very long time although the LED’s have mostly taken over and would imagine your Krones with hamburgers would be fitted with LED’s?
I actually like them, you can have up to 9 bulbs out without being pulled. Not that i run with bulbs out as its just an attention grabber but if they do blow on route its not an issue. Recently hitched up to one though with the whole wiring loom ripped out from the back, another hour repair job with the wire strippers and scotch locks…

The marker lights are LED but the tail lights are still standard bulbs. Had one where the brake light didn’t work, took the lense off, replaced the bulb and still nothing. Took the other apart to see the wiring, found no change between the two. Got annoyed so put them back together and lo-and-behold the brake light starting working.

I’ve got these on a 4 year old sdc trailer. They are ■■■■. My advice for anyone fitting these is to absolutely cover the terminals with silicone (after connecting the wires obviously). They are terrible for filling with water and corroding. I asked to have them taken off and replaced with old style hamburgers or a different style led cluster but the powers that be said no [emoji15].
The side markers are all led too and I hate them. Nothing is as simple as replacing a bulb. It’s nearly always a corroded plug which causes the issue. I’ve started carrying heat shrink tubing and connectors to make the bodge jobs a bit more permanent.

Notice how much more fragile looking the wiring and plugs look to old style ones? I carry a tool box to do all sorts of bodge jobs on trailers inc as you do some connectors… wire strippers/various packs of bulbs, a roll of cable ect. Trailers from over Europe are dumped in our yard like it, seems very few check lights…

Old style bulbs, one went out and it was no bother to change the bulb or sometimes fit a new holder. Fancy Dan led side lights, if one goes out then you lose the whole side upto that lamp. You need a steady hand and patience of a saint to crimp the new plugs for the connectors. I have neither so it’s straight connectors crimped on and then I burn my fingers with a mini blow torch on the heat shrink tubing!
What gets me is that Christmas tree lights used to be hard to get working but now they are a doddle. Trailer lights have gone the other way!
I’m lucky that I don’t have to swap trailers so I know which lights have been bodged up and I don’t have to sort anyone else’s unreported broken lights.
I was talking to a walking floor driver a couple of weeks ago. He was parking up for 13 hours to wait for the workshop to open because his lights were out on one side. I had a look and in 2 minutes found a broken wire. Touched the ends and hey presto…lights. Told him I’d join them for him so he could get going if he wanted. “Nah mate. I best get it done right. It’s a bit ■■■■ because I really needed to be up the road sharp in the morning.”
I had to walk away before I exploded. He was a southerner funnily enough.
I had cheeseburger lights 10 yrs on a sprung trailer can’t remember putting a bulb in ,Iirc the cheaper ones were better than the Hella ones as the Hella tongue was a bit prone for going off centre , I did drill a small hole to let the water out and smeared greese on the plates , the problem with the hole was I had to clean the bulbs odd times .

One thing im always doing is fixing up a trailer in some form or another, its always me that gets the ■■■■■■ one

.
These are the sort though that cant even replace a bulb, often wonder how long they would be prepared to sit in the middle of nowhere waiting for a fitter to come out and do it for them
The one thing that boils my ■■■■ is when you move over to let someone on car truck bus , and they hold you out in the middle lane with out a wave

Why is flashing such an emotive subject ?
You get the sarcastic left and right indicators flick for not flashing in .
Or you flash in with no thanks.
How do you put sarcasm into the flashing of your indicators?

Must agree it’s rare I get a thankyou off the forigners that pull in soon as their past my slow rigid but allso find Arctic do wat ever they want anyway so I don’t tend to flash anywhere near as much as when I started all of 6 month ago
