Idiots in haulage

I was thinking of getting a name plate for mine.

It turns out that ’ complete and utter bellend ’ won’t fit

Poor attitude eb, always had you down as one who could think outside of the box. Try two name plates, one with complete and the other with bellend. Alternatively you could have one of those sunstrip’s from my youth where you had Steve and Sharon on it for example. Sure you could get Complete Utter Bellend on one of those.

So who knows how to setup a funding page?

Missed that one completely mate.

Well the Mods got there first, and deemed it inappropriate…
I await my fun police violation badge! :grimacing:

Anyway, it was a GIF video of an amply breasted woman, needing to adjust her top.
i.e. A big girl in a blouse!

Well the mod’s raison d’etre (Mange tout Rodney) is to protect our delicate demeanour, you know that as well as I do.
It’s common knowledge that your average UK trucker withers in embarrasment at the sight of a pair of ■■■■, and jumps at the first instance to complain about it after being seriously offended, …and maybe even mentally scarred for life. :bulb:
Thank God they are here to protect us all I say. :sunglasses:

Btw PM me it, just for research purposes you understand.

It strikes me, reading these regular postings about tight schedules, that those organizing the workload have possibly never even driven a lorry? It used to be mostly ex drivers dishing the work out so they had some idea of journey times and allowed for traffic congestion etc but from what I read on here that is no longer the case? Do they time journeys using the AA Routefinder?

Pete.

At my last place they just used Google Maps.

Thank’s Radar, no actual driving experience from planners then? Even I could do their job then!

Pete.

Can’t speak for the night lads J, but I drag DD’s regularly and some of the runs are really tight on the tacho

I’m a real arsey [zb] EB, so if that was me, …instead of trying to meet their [zb] stupid schedules, I would make bloody sure the job did not get there and/or back in time, again and again,.and not be too amazed the next time when the schedule suddenly became more realistic and achievable. :bulb: …but that’s just me.
Once you start to help these type of pricks to look as if they actually know what they’re doing, you are Donald Ducked, I learned that one a long time ago.

I agree with your sentiment rob, however with 9/10 mugs in this game getting the job done (albeit most fade away and jack the job after 6 months), you look like the pain in the arse that can’t get the job done, and the company then have you down as a trouble maker. It’s one of the main reasons the game is [zb]

I can see both sides of the coin. Its no good trying to meet unrealistic schedules and if this is the case then something should be said but if timescales are reasonable theres no excuse for a driver not to do his best to get the job done without out thinking sod it i cant be bothered. Personally ill max it and go all out to get the job done as it benefits both myself and the company i sub for, works both ways in some cases…

Goes without saying Andrew, yeh if time scales are reasonable why would you not attempt, and succeed, to meet them.
You say you see my point, so I’m sure you understand that I meant that if a transport office were taking the proverbial, only an idiot would attempt to meet their schedule, as it will only encourage them to take more liberties with their drivers. …(…btw not referring to EagerB’s situation, nor calling him an idiot, I am speaking generally here.)

On the other hand if I was an owner driver again, like yourself, then yeh, like you I would max it to achieve it, to gain favour,.and hopefully more work, from my customer…assuming I was getting adequately compensated for putting myself.and/or licence on the line.

That won’t work… It’ll need a ■■■■■■■ big windscreen to fit a sunstrip that reads “complete and utter bellend and big arse”

(If I’ve overstepped any boundary, I might apologize. )

Hi Rob. I have just read your last paragraph several times, because I kept thinking I must have read it wrong. :open_mouth:
Despite all your endless posts about your hobbyhorses of not even attempting a planned job if you deme it unreasonable, no brownnosing ( as you say to gain favour ), growing a pair and standing up to the people who pay you, these admirable principles seem to go out of the window if you are self employed.
So, if I understand you correctly, you are prepared to bend over and take it and even put yourself and your license on the line, so long as the money is right ?
It maybe, as I suspect, just a poor attempt at keeping other posters happy, if you like them and sometimes they appear to be at odds with you views ?
I realise, if you consider my post worthy of a response, it will probably start with " listen MATE, you suspect what you want ( TBH. I don’t give a flying[zb] ) "…but I hope not.
Regards. John.

Listen MATE, you suspect what you want (TBH. I don’t give a flying ■■■■)…ONLY JOKING !

Although can I firstly say that tbh I’m mildly concerned how much you have ‘studied’ me, and my ‘‘endless posts’’ and ‘‘hobby horses’’ to the point of predicting what I will say :open_mouth: should I be watching my back or looking to see if you are camped outside my front door here or what ? :open_mouth:
(On the other hand if it is just that I generally annoy you, have you tried just ignoring my posts :bulb: as I do with one or two on here.)

Right where do I start ?
Only time I bend over mate ( there I go again) is either to moon or tie my boots.
I was an owner driver in the 80s so I can only speak about it from that perspective, as for modern times today? Different ball game completely.

Also I am a lot older, wiser mature and experienced since then, so maybe I can see the error of SOME of my ways in those days.
As well as that I am now an employed driver as opposed to an owner driver,.and have been for about 19 or so years, so other side of coin brings different views and perspective.

At that time as an o/d, tachos were like frisbees, nobody gave a flying ■■■■ (sorry again) about rules, and definitely more so owner drivers…So yeh I went like ■■■■, I maxed out and then some, I fiddled more than Nigel Kennedy on crack. AND I made a lot of money.

So as I said nothing to do with bending over, more trying to get noticed in a harshly competitive game to get work…ie. purely mercenary . :bulb:

As for me trying to ‘‘Keep other posters happy if they are at odds with my views’’ ?
Ah well ! …I aint as alarmed as before about you potentially stalking me, it appears that you know nothing about me after all.

Hope that answers your question ‘‘mate’’
If it doesn’t ‘‘I don’t give a flying ■■■■’’ …
There you go 2 for price of 1, I’ve got more catchphrases than Brucie.

Hi Rob. Thanks for replying .
As I read almost all the posts on here, and you have nearly 10000 posts, I wouldn’t need to “study” you, as you put it, to notice your very individual posting style.
You do not annoy me, and I am certainly not stalking you, as you seem to imply. The fact that you thought ANYONE might be stalking you, probably says more about you than me ? :bulb:
I didn’t say you try to keep all posters happy who are at odds with your views, your as good as anyone on here at being forthright. You do, however, slip in the odd "( and I didn’t mean you btw. ) or ( not having a go at you mate btw. ) if it’s a poster you usually have empathy with. I thought your reply to Andrew might have been one of these occasions. I think you’ve mentioned a few times you were an owner driver !! Oh no, I’ve done it again !!
So, if I understand correctly you broke every rule in the book back in the day ? You won’t get any grief from me for that, I was just the same back in the 60s. & 70s.
Most worked like that to increase our earnings (although I never been an owner driver ) not because we were told to, or to curry favour, or for fear of losing our jobs.
We are however talking about today, and it just seamed to me a bit odd that you would say, in effect it is OK for an owner driver to do what ever he is told by his customer, and ■■■■ up his back in the hope of getting more work, but totally out of order for an employed driver to behave in a similar manner to avoid losing his job.
Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick.
Regards. John.

Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.

Tbh mate I wasn’t being entirely serious that I thought you were stalking me  , and yeh I do have a couple of what you could call ‘mates’ on this forum (although I have never met most of them) we have a bit of banter, where we say wtf we like to each other, and nobody takes offence, and we share a lot of opinions on things.
So maybe in that respect I was pointing out I meant no offence by directing something personally, but rather clarifying my point.

As for Andrew I am forever pointing out to him that being an owner driver brings a whole different perspective on things, so stuff that he is happy to do, I aint. :bulb: (btw have I ever mentioned that I was an o/driver once also?  )
Another point to consider is that he does his work in Spain, not the UK, so a lot of times he is comparing apples with oranges.

This maybe should have been pm.d between us, instead of on the forum, as it may be a bit boring to others,… but you know what my ego is like :sunglasses: don’t you…
