I need some advice?

For the sake of argument imagine I get back through the gates of the yard at 4.28 on the tacho breathing a sigh of relief as I only just made it. But I’ve got at least 10 minutes drive time to get through the yard, find a space and drop the trailer, then get the tractor unit back to its parking slot. Do I (a) carry on and clock up 4.40 drive time and make a note that it was in the yard, (b) stop, take 45 and then carry on, (c) pull my card, finish my shift and then at the start of my next shift make a manual entry of 10 to 15 minutes other work, or (d) you tell me??

villa:
if i am in a queue or very near to my destination
and approaching 4.5 hours driving
i take my card out
drive a bit more and back up to the bay or park up
then 47 minutes after i took the card out
i put it back in
and when i do the entry for the 47 minutes that the card was out
i select the bed symbol to say i was on break

i bet everyone does that

LOL!!! Wind up surely■■?

The tacho head will still record the driving time and will show “driving without card”

This would entail you getting an infringement for driving over4.5 hours with insufficient break.

(b) stop, take 45 and then carry on
This would be one of the legal options but not usually very practical.

(c) pull my card, finish my shift and then at the start of my next shift make a manual entry of 10 to 15 minutes other work
This would be the second most practical even if illegal option, the other work bit is irrelevant as the driving in these circumstances is not other work it’s driving time.

(d) you tell me??
Park the vehicle inside the yard before exceeding 4.5 hours driving time pull your card and get someone else to park it up, this would be the preferred and legal option.

And the missing mileage is explained how?

no one has ever asked me
and as its only usually ten or 15 minutes
i would say i was in the yard (private land)
and i asked my mate or the shunter to drive round the building and reverse up to the bay or to park it
as i was on my break eating sausage and chips
