Time and again when parked up see drivers spending there break with there phones stuck to there hand on Facebook YouTube or what ever.
Surely this doesn’t help. Must give you eye strain plus. Forcing you to stay awake when deep down your.maybe tired.

Why does a phone force people to stay awake when a book or a magazine doesn’t? What does a tv do?

best thing about nights for me is, not having to get up in the dam cold winter @ 0400 in the morning

i can wake up midday anyweather

This is why I have a problem (or would have if I worked for them) with these firms who ring their drivers up if they dare to stop during a trunk,.asking ‘‘Why have you stopped’’ .
Sometimes a 15 minute power nap makes all the difference, but according to some on here with the big gonads …‘‘You shouldn’t be doing the job if you need to stop for a kip’’
. :unamused:

The 15 minute power nap [emoji122] I drove Glasgow to Inverness 3 days a week and at least one of those I’d get the nodding head, you know what I mean.

I was told never to fight it and just stop. So I stopped at the next layby, set my alarm for 15 mins and I was spark out [emoji1]

15 mins later was like a new day, off we go and no one died [emoji4]

My boss wasn’t an arse hole though!

Screens (all types) emit blue light, which causes the suppression of melatonin, keeping you awake.

If you want to sleep well, eliminate all blue light about an hour before you want to go to sleep.

It’s 6 or 7 years since I retired having worked permanent nights for 10 years before that.I always went to sleep as soon as I got home and woke up when I woke up.I never had any problems nodding through the night although a lot did.I refused to start before 1800 and insisted on 10 or 11 hours max.shift although I did compromise occasionally.
Even now my body clock is screwed up so if i have long journeys to make to relatives in Devon or alternative home in Spain I do it overnight as much as possible.
It was also a benefit when my children were teenagers and out at the weekend.I could pick them up in the small hours so they didn’t have to rely on a taxi to get home.
