How the bloody hell am I meant to know this

dozy:
Pull out of shop ,turn left as that’s the only way you can go to be met by a road worker waving his hand ,he then comes down and informs me the roads shut and there’s been signs up for 2 weeks telling folks of this and can’t I read :exclamation: :exclamation: ,I then informed him I could read but as I hadn’t been too that shop for a good 6 months I wasntnlikely too read his bloody sign and if him and his mates got there zb asses in gear then the zb tram lines would of been finished months ago and why did the zb signs tell you too go left ( that’s the only way you could do ) if the zb road was shut :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: ,he then says you can’t go back as that’s one way only ( how the zb he thought I was going too turn round anyway I don’t know ( side road,40 fter ) ,so in going too have to try and turn rightat end of road but be really careful as there’s lots of there equipment down there ( his mate will direct me ,so straight Down road ( zb mad by then ) ,hooked it hard rightand straight round ( zb his equipment ) and then stopped by another road worker asking what I’m doing down there :exclamation: :exclamation: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: ,he got in the head ,your zb mate told me too come down here as there’s nowhere else too go as I can’t apparently read and you can’t put up signs warning in advance you can’t come down this way ( felt a bit sorry for him after as he did get a earful) ,anyway then grabbed a local and said where does this road go  ,you’ll not get down there as cars are double parked and on corners ,where does that side road go  ,back too main road but it’s zb tight with cars etc everywhere ,wel,in for a penny in for a pound and with a lot of luck, got out in one piece and was great entertainment for the locals who, obviously hasn’t seen one of those down there side road ,deep breaths and wait for the claims for mirrors ,wings ,dented doors :exclamation: ,zb road workers

Do it again

A couple of years ago they resurfaced parts of a country lane that I used regularly. plenty of advance warning but the road was not closed, just a few tight squeezes. Then, one day, on my return (it had been ok on the way out) I see a diversion sign. Not at the start of the road where a longer alternative would be OK, but right on a crossroads where the alternatives were pretty well impassable for anything bigger than a transit van.

I stop to consider the possibilities - obviously turning round -(not easy but do-able) was one, but then a guy in a white hat wanders over. We have a little chat and he says that I should get through OK, but try not to run any of (his) workers over. Off I go at walking pace and stop several times to be jeered at good humouredly while they moved their machinery, and then onwards. No one (not even a small boy) injured and everyone happy.

There is no reason why these people should be hostile unless you were the umteenth truck to make the same mistake that day - in which case someone needed to check that the local scrotes hadn’t sold their signs for scrap.

What was a cricket umpire doing there
