How much do you think your worth?

Plenty physical enough depending what your doing, I’m relatively lucky at the moment on fridge work, tipping a double decker of 20+ tons of white product by hand every day has been plenty physical enough in the past however.

Winseer:
How much is THIS driver worth do you think?

Yeah it’s more physical than sitting at a desk or factory line for sure, but you ever tried scaffolding?

I’m not endearing myself to anyone here so lets just agree that I am right and I will discuss this further when my hangover clears.

Wheel Nut:
I think we are worth more than the average drivers wage of £407 for 42 hours, but I am interested where you can earn the same money cleaning or shelfstacking

My local Lidl are advertising for “deputy Managers” (General dogs bodies) at 21,000 PA on a 40 hour week. Thats more than a lot of class 2 drivers are getting, and quite a few class 1 drivers, works out at about £405 PW. Less hours, although it will involve weekend work, no nights out, lots of totty to look at, regular lunch and tea breaks, probably staff discount on food, regular hours…where do I sign?

Scaffolders definately do some graft, no doubt about that.

Phantom Mark:

Yeah, but again, they earn the money…

scaffoldersforum.com/scaffol … mpton.html

there paying 12.50 for 38hrs then 17 for sat then if you get in on a sunday 22 that first hourly rate is crap

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

again i dont give a toss about cleaners or shelf stackers, im not either so think its stupid to compare my wages against one :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

when i go for a job i find out what the total gross wage is then mentally deduct 25% to find out what take home is which is what counts.

long hours are part of the job if you dont like them go and get a job in another industry, but let me tell you…

if you want to be a lorry driver expect early starts and 13 hours days. :bulb: :bulb: :bulb: :bulb:

I don’t wish to burst some of your bubbles, but at a basic level being a truck driver isn’t difficult, although I met plenty who seem to make it very difficult for themselves and everybody else.

It also isn’t difficult to get qualified to do the job.
I’ve never found opening a set of curtains or opening the doors of a trailer that complicated.
Of course there are other who do far more specialised jobs that might take a bit more training.
and what’s really complicated about the paperwork?
If you find yours really difficult, you either have problems or the company you work for is making the job complicated.

There are many other jobs that involve paperwork or even an element of risk.

you see i agree with this…

too much time is spent bleating on about cleaners and shelf stackers… go and do it and the join shelfstacker.com

See what happens to the 21k manager if one of his staff throws out the indate stock and sells some out of date stuff, see what happens when they miscount or duplicate the weekly stock order. :stuck_out_tongue:

I expect to take home at least 500quid a week for a decent day’s work, never had a problem getting that either, but things have changed a bit in the last 4yrs since I did the off, so I don’t know if that would still be possible, but I reckon that’s a fair wage

Same as what I think is reasonable I take a bit over that after stoppages. There are firms still paying that money but you ain’t going to find it down the job centre

If we are reducing jobs to basic levels I don’t have to steer and just pull a lever. Apparently a monkey could be trained to do that :astonished:

But there’s so much more to truck driving than mentioned. It is a truely skilled job and it’s about time you were all paid what tanker drivers get!

did the advert not say??

have you applied?

Following on from “How much do you get paid topic”, let me ask you this, how Much do you think your worth? and why?

How i see it £500 a week is a cracking wage for driving a vehicle, but some drivers seem to think that sort of wage is crap and they should get more, why is that?

This thread is NOT a dig or a ■■■■ take, but it is based on what i have seen over the past weeks.

Crack on

I think your Question is wrong!
As your Company could replace you easily i need to say “Nothing” :exclamation:
What the Company pays for is the Job and it doesnt matter who is doing it.
Just saying it that way as many believe they are safe and then shocked when laid off and another,an Agency Driver perhaps is doing his Job.

You know. I think Humanity isnt counting much anymore

I put long hours in this week. Only 1 glitch oops. But I am earning good money for ■■■■ easy work.

In a way immigrant has a point. OMG I said it.

What he says about the employer paying for the load to be delivered is correct.

But it relies on a qualified alert responsible driver and that’s the bit that is not accounted for.

FFS driving a lorry is ■■■■ easy compared to whats out there… most of us would,nt last doing a manual job and to be honest we wouldnt last because work is involved, compare to shelf stacking, cleaning i would,nt last 2 mins, as most drivers i,m used to my own company and would get seriously ■■■■■■ of when joe public starts harrasing me about where the baked beans are ect…

my wife is a physio on 30k, but it took 4 years at uni to do it at£££££££ as we paid most ourselves, specialises in amputees including our lads who are being bought back from overseas, try giving a guy hope to carry on who as just lost his dreams and basically does,nt want to carry on?? and it can/does include weekends and unsociable hours. plus its a job that she cannot leave at the gate…
