Not driving I know but I see loads of posts on here about people not happy with their lot driving but can’t seem get out for one reason or another so heres some food for thought…
This job needs no qualifications and they’re always hiring (well known “british” 4x4/car manufacturer) if you can hack boring monotonous work doing the same thing 300+ times a shift (not too different from a regular run driving I used to do Really tbh)
-hours: 36 per week on a 3 shift pattern
-£ per hour: £16.50 + 22% shift allowance for morning/afternoons and 33% shift allowance for nights
Saturdays at time and a 1/3, Sundays at time and 2/3

Maybe those on big money are happy to talk about it, and those not are a bit reluctant? Summat about being a ‘self selecting survey’ causing bias.

More then likely though those earning big money have had to chase it because they’ve accustomed a lifestyle which has seen then needing to make so much just to live and pay off the debts they’ve accrued.
My wages are decent I get extra for starting early, payments for changing start times by more than 2 hrs and a decent night away rate, more jobs should be like this, I am a tanker driver and the 3 jobs I have had on Tankers have all had similar t&cs
bald bloke:
Over £15.00 per hour is the most popular figure so far so maybe folks are on more than they make out !!
Or maybe they’re on less than they’re making out
Yep a few untruths being told .
They are interesting results considering what gets written on here constantly about poor pay in the industry, maybe we only see the adverts and hear about those companies that can’t get drivers, other places don’t need to advertise, so you never see their rates of pay, but it’s been a long time since I’ve taken on face value what any driver has told me about their earnings.

Havent worked out an ‘hourly’ rate for years, just a net monthly/pa figure is all i go by but looked it up and for 2016 after maintenance- servicing/tyres/brakes/consumables plus insurances, breakdown cover, 84,335 litres of fuel, 1,815 litres of Adblue worked out to a net of 72,315 Eur for (on the card) 2991 hrs…

Contracted to 50hrs pw and on a salary. Works out at 9.33ph so not great but I enjoy my work plus it’s my first job driving trucks commercially(drove them in the forces for the last 15 years ago over the world). As I’m new to this game I’m glad of the experience I’m gaining and know new opportunities will arise in time. I probably only do 45 hours a week so it’s more like 10-11ph. Mortgage and bills paid with plenty of juice of my choice to drink at the weekend

I have toyed with the idea but the furthest ive ever taken it is renting another truck for a short term contract…
CANADA is not the goldmine that people say …also I’m on by the hr not cpm so ive just checked the rate exchange I’m on 13.00 gbp for the first 50hrs+5% holiday pay…and after 50hrs time and a half.and that’s for a small wae out in the country company on a 6x4 tipper (lots and lots of sitting about waiting on oil sprayer)…also thrown in is a camper to live in one man one camper ,and travel to/from the work camp. M eals to be claimed at tax time as $34 a day on site. Not the worst job nor the best but yard a 5min walk from my house and trucks always legal and never ever asked to break any laws. my look at things from the great white north. jimmy
