The last photo, I’m thinking Russian sub, possibly the Belgorad.
And will continue to do so. None are my cup of tea, but for some they offer enjoyment in various ways. Let those folk enjoy their pleasures.
No, it’s your superior, condecending, attitude to anyone who does not drive at least a V8. The only reason you keep the rusted out pile of rubbish, Jaguar is for bragging purposes. You fail to mention its derelict condition.
Ironically I’ve got nothing against any enthusiast who chooses to regard an 1100 as a classic.Thats their choice.
But do have a problem with what seems more like part of a control freak agenda, to reduce the expectations of those of us who choose something better.
The type of ‘agenda’ that would view that choice as unnecessary decadence. Then or now.
Exactly what evidence have you got that would suggest a ‘rusted out derelict Jaguar’.As opposed to actually exceptionally structurally solid for its type and age but in need of recommissioning including some preferably OE quality and fit brake pipes, all hampered by lack of factory parts support.
Solid enough in fact, that if anything would provide the incentive to try to overcome that issue, your laughable comments would.
Ironic? More like a rapid 180⁰.
More crap from your alternative world.
Your statement that a brakeline is rusted. You claim (entirely falsely) that you are a brilliant engineer, yet you cant do that simple repair! FFS, there are plenty of blokes here, without engineering qualifications who gave you solid advice and guidance. Advice and guidance that you lacked the skills to apply.
So is the Jaguar decaying under your house because you lack the skills to repair and maintain it, or is it simply beyond repair? I’ve seen a few rusty cars in my time, brake lines are amongst the last parts to corrode. A catastrophic failure of a brake line, indicates the poor state of the rest of the vehicle.
I borrowed an Africa Twin a few years back to do a tour of Scotland. It was an auto which was strange at first. Comfortable enough though, good tool for the job.
Have you ever had a GS mate? Friend of mine is selling his 14 plate for a very reasonable price, tempted to take it out for a spin and go from there.
I had the S1000XR a while back, i liked it but can’t say I really miss it.
I didn’t claim that I’m a brilliant engineer or even an engineer. But I do know that bodging a brake system with hand formed copper based brake piping, that needs original quality, steel, pre jig formed lines, ain’t ideal or recommended.
It’s why the correct lines, with the correct part numbers, were used and available until recently.
The same applies to numerous other parts.
A catastrophic failure of a brake line can also mean nothing more than less than 1/4 of an inch of plastic coating, protecting the steel, has been damaged by road debris. In an unseen location behind a suspension cross member.
You also think that a painted body shell will rust away before unprotected steel brake pipes.
Ironically you’re right those plastic coated steel pipes will often outlast the body panels they are mounted to.
But there are numerous examples in which the opposite applies as in this case.
To add you tell me exactly where you think the thing has disintegrated into rust with your telepathic powers and I’ll post the relevant photographic evidence to confirm or disprove it.
Nope. I’ve had a wobble around a car park on a mates, but that’s not enough to form an impression. By all accounts though they are the mutz nutz and are indeed very capable. If it’s a good price I’d say go for it. They seem to hold their value.
No offence Tobes but I generally find your attempts at humour on here not funny…
(sorry mate just doing my usual ‘‘Speaking my mind and ■■■■ the consequences’’ thing, as ever here.
So again… no offence.)
Anyhoo I DID find this funny.
So there is hope (for us both) yet.
I try my best, it’s all that Guinness you drank the other day mate.
I was on Guiness all afternoon yesterday unusual for me …I usually drink Ruddles Bitter.
Are you Clinton Baptiste or were you stalking me.
On what engineering principle are you basing that? Sounds like an excuse to me.
If I am wrong and any of the suggested repar methods are an unsafe and/or illegal modification, you may as well scrap the car. Jaguar Land Rover are not going to make the part, in the future.
