How do these work?

hitch:
whats happening about the new paint job

they are being done as here
trucknetuk.com/phpBB2/viewtopic. … ight=cemex

I was unsure at first but quite like it now. It’s taking a while for them to be done and it seems when they are done they get spread around to other depots as well. We’ve got new tractor units on the way so they will all be in the new colours - even the bag trailers are having new curtains fitted now.

Map Man isn’t lying when he says that he’s got it easy on the night shift !!! :open_mouth: Good job tho, you should enjoy it once you know what your doing, but dont listen to the drivers that try to show you all the short cuts when discharching (this WILL happen) as it’s taking big saftey risks just to save yourself 5 or 10 mins at the drop. These tanks can and do expolde in the wrong hands !!! Apart from that mate it is the easiest job ive ever had, no queing,no stress and no attidude from forkies / office hitlers, but most of all…no rdc’s

■■■■ I’ve been rumbled   it’s the worst job on the planet, no time to spare 43 hours a night at least with 74 drops, etc etc

   :sunglasses:

If you pick up from Rugby Map-man what sort of places do you drop at?

Generally on nights we are doing out of hours deliveries, some smaller sites have no one at site and we have keys etc to get in.

A few in london - wembley, purfleet, bow, battersea, heathrow, brentford. couple out on the A34 - kidlington, thatcham, milton and beenham. A few locals within an hours drive - kettering, b’ham, banbury. Furthest one is Poole.

We also deliver to our other depots in dagenham, rochester, newport, southampton and south ferriby nr hull. On top of that we may get a stock load just moving cement over to the bagging plant silos on site at rugby.

With a run like battersea I know that will be all for the night, wembley might be doubled up with a kettering or similar but even thats not exactly a hard night.

The only problem is when planning send 4 or 5 tanks to the same site and there is only one silo - means you have to queue up. It’s been known in extreme circumstances for them to send up to 20 tanks in one night to newport to blow into 2 silos, that makes for a long night but thats purely down to the waiting time and means an hour or two on the bunk

There is enough variety not to get bored but you still see the same faces on a regular basis.

Just remember that I’m just talking about our firm - the guys you’ll be working for may want every last minute from you and have you chasing your tail all day/night BUT on the flip side you’ll have that extra string to you bow with knowing how to tip a powder tanker.

ps I’ll sort some pics out for ya as requested
