Johnny aka Little John:
With hungarians n bulgarians working for 800euros a month
Just done a quick calculation, but would be nice to know if the figure you quote is before or after deductions. E 800 at the going rate of 1.20 eoros to the £ means that the Hungarians / Bulgarians are actually getting around £ 650 " a month "
Imagine lots of drivers would be happy with that if it was after deductions
What drivers do you know that would be happy with £650 a month? I expect that a week after deductions
but there are east europeans and non europeans living in their trucks in spain and portugal that DO work for that money
not that i know of dafydd
i was lucky, i got to spain before the roma and the bulgars so got a job on decent pay and conditions before it all went pete tong

I do apologise - I obviously had 1 too many Ricards that night and probably the Calvados after dinner affected my eyesight, When I read the original post my brain saw that as “per week” even though it plainly says p/month
He’s paying minimum wage for approx 8 hours, then £35 per night out and if this as been agreed
with by the local Tax office, then it’s tax free on the nights out.
Plus, because the driver is on low wages, he will not be paying very much Tax, and he can apply for working tax credits
as well because of the low wage !!!
So, 6 days @ £47 per day = £282 less tax etc poss net take home £235 ?
5 Nights out@ £35 per night= £175 tax free
Total £410 per week, X52 weeks = £21320 divide by 12 = £1776.67 per month net take home, plus
possible tax credits.
That’s a bit better than €800 per month ■■
So, at the end of the day, if you don’t like it, dont do it, sit at home on the dole.

That’s a smart way to make us all paid to his employers through our taxes… He saves a lot, drivers got more than some others and we all end up paying for it via these tax credits… And he cuts his costs a lot, so he can compete better with other hauliers… So we’ll all end up with paying the dole to the others soon…
Orys, I agree with you, but we do not make the Laws and this is a legal way, So really companies should find
accountants who know what’s going on, in order to reduce outgoing’s for both Employee’s and Employer’s and
then everybody starts to earn more ? but at the expense of ■■?
