The idiot that i work with when we were picking up our irish load from a well known supermarket Rdc from an even better known haulage firm that now sports a very nice pink HiVis was told that pink is now the colour as it is a european directive apparently less froggies get killed wearing pink

Orange has better contrast with the surroundings, since you don’t have much orange things around. ?
But our eye is mostly accomodated to yellow light, because this is the vavelenght our Sun emites the most. This is the reson for yellow streetlights and headlights which were popular in 70-80.
