It was years ago but…
I drowe down the road and some prick on a car jump out on my way.
Of course. I tried to avoid collision and swerve cross the pavement and hit the fence.
Conclusion.
Guy said to the police that he is just a witness and seen me losing control over my vehicle.
I got fined and lost my licence for 6 months!
Will I swerve again? No!
Should you? No!
Why?
Who ever would be driving next to you will try to swerve aswell or will be pushed by your trailer
in to oncoming traffic and that could cost many and many lives.
Never been in that type of situation , hopefully never will , if someone decides to have a death wish with any motor vehicle of any sort, whether on a motorway or any other road you may not have a choice on what your reactions may do , it could turn out to be carnage or could be a lucky escape for everyone involved , I think most peoples instinct would be to swerve as a natural reaction ,after all we’ve all done that when dogs and other animals have run out in front of our cars and lorries , glad your ok mate and all the best for the future .
I’ve recently bought a dashcam in case of accidents or damage.
This just makes the £90 I spent worth every penny should it happen to me.
And for the record. I’d have probably hit him. Not a fan of swerving across lanes on the motorway.
But until you are actually in that position, it;s hard to say what your natural reaction would be…
I absolutely 100% guarantee that if you’ve got time to swerve you’ll swerve. The only way to avoid it is to repeatedly practice not swerving until it becomes “muscle memory” and who in their right mind would do that?
Everyone will always swerve to avoid a pedestrian, even if it kills the person in the next lane, natural reaction. Once a vehicle is seen on a hard shoulder it’s always good practice to move into middle lane,

Well Said.
I was thinking that - What if.
What if you swerved and took out an innocent family in a passing car because you didn’t have time to check - all because someone else had a death wish? Its a dilemma but you get no time to think about it when it happens.
I will always move into lane 2, or at least straddle lane 1-2 if any vehicle is near the line on the hard shoulder.
I saw a driver walk straight out from the front of his truck to get back in without looking, he jumped back sharpish, could have been a totally different story, that is why I always move out.
