yeah, or a 19ton coil!

or 240 lambs

i would probably pull in if i thought there may be a problem but then again, i am getting more aggressive in my old age :smiling_imp:

i did a security run once in the Army. i was in a landrover with someone else escorting a sensitive load on a bedford MJ. we werent armed and i did ask what we were there for in the event of an incident. i was told to keep an eye on the truck and try to prevent anything happening using minimum force. in the end, i was told to ram anyone who tried anything. i have been tempted to do that with these idiots who cut us up so i guess i would choose that as a defensive manouvre if possible. since our trucks are marked up, i doubt it will happen anyway :unamused:

When I used to do a supermarket contract a few years ago it always use to worry me as we went to the slums of london at 4am, I was always expecting a whack on the head at any time, but particulary around this time of year as we were 70% loaded with booze!!! (Allot of it was spirits as well).

Thefts From Moving Lorries
TruckPol is warning hauliers to be on their guard after receiving reports of thieves stealing from moving lorries in Leicestershire. Thieves will follow a lorry from a depot and climb on the rear tailgate or cross member when the lorry is at traffic lights. The door seal (if fitted) will be broken and product thrown into the road where it is collected by the following car. When the lorry slows down again further on, the thief will jump off, get back into the following car and make good his escape.
This can be prevented by fitting a good quality padlock on the rear roller shutters or barn doors. Anyone suffering thefts like this is or with information about those responsible is asked to contact Truckpol

13 DECEMBER 2005 - At 0925hrs on 12/12/05, a loaded HGV was leaving its depot in Willenhall, West Midlands. The driver stopped to move cones placed in his path, leaving his vehicle insecure. Offenders in a white transit van shouted to the driver to distract him, and another offender stole the HGV. The HGV has been recovered minus its load in Wolverhampton.

02 DECEMBER 2005 - At 2105 hrs on 30/11/05 a loaded HGV left a depot in Bilston and was travelling along the Black Country spine road, Willenhall, towards J10 M6. The driver noticed a Silver Audi estate car with a ‘Y’ prefix, following him. The HGV driver saw one of his rear doors fly open and so stopped to secure it. He left the keys in his ignition and a white male, stocky, dark hair, late 20’s, jumped into cab and tried to steal HGV. The HGV driver wrestled with offender and managed to get back into cab and secure vehicle. The offender ran to the Silver Audi and made off.
