As for everything else, the government devised their job

And of course everything the government do is a good idea? :unamused:

I think the idea of these people has possibilities but the way they are going about needs looking at. Seems to me they are overreacting to each situation, coning off more road than needs to be and keeping the road closed for far longer than the police ever seem to do.

my point wasnt whether or not the government are right, i cant stand the current government in many ways, but what i was pointing out is if you have a grievance then i think the wrong run of the ladder is being aimed at.

I dont know about individual cases but i know that you cant get back someones health or life so i would rather drive slow past an obstacle for safety reasons however annoying, than know someone had been injured or died, remember that workers on the motorway are in one of the most dangerous jobs, so it stands to reason to slow traffic down for breakdowns.

I just think a bit of give and take is necessary.

I was told the other day that the very vast majority of personnel are in fact retired coppers & firemen. Apparently they have the job sewn up, as in a ā€œclosed shopā€
No-one else gets a look-in …
Don’t know if it’s true or not.

well they played a blinder today shutting the inside lane on the north bound m1 near j29, why? a bad smash, people injured, an earth quake perhaps? nope! a trailer with a puncture on the [zb] near side!!!
have these numpties got an obsession with traffic cones or something?
what really lit the fuse was, as i came past and realised why i’d be held for half an hour, there was this piilock stood there, staring at the passing traffic, with arms crossed, feet spread and sunglasses on, he would’ve looked like one of the cops out of chips without the bike if he hadn’t been about seven stone and built like a stick! don’t know weather he could here what i was shouting at him but i reckon he got the meassage. :imp:

auto censor dodge removed  …Denis F

Ive just had the same conversation with our local village policeman in the pub.

Yes we still have one who lives in a police house, knows all the oiks and villains and takes time to get to know people. Unfortunately he is being replaced by 2 community support officers who are cheaper than him. What powers do they have? none, They have to gather intelligence and give it to him. so where is the saving? Instead of one proper policeman we now have one and 2 thirds.

There is no need to close every motorway in the uk because someone has a puncture or a breakdown. 2 flashing lamps and a couple of warning triangles work in every other part of Europe I have worked in.

I’d love to put me gloves on, get a right big dollop of grease off the fifth wheel and wipe it all over their spotless hi-viz jackets. :sunglasses:
