Gud’ay,
Can anyone help me with how to fill in the HGV drivers diary please?
I have given it to my lad who’s just got a class one job and starts in the middle of next month. He’s keen to keep an eye on his driving hours and being proud of his first class one job I know he wants to keep a record of what he’s been doing. He asked me to get it for him as it was a bit expensive for a diary but now he’s got it, there is very little description on how to fill it in each day/trip.
Any advice gratefully received.
Sandy

G.Day…it looks like a daily record, and also looks self explanatory, so every day, put in the registration number, trailer number, start mileage, start time, then driving periods, breaks, other work and daily rests. once parked up for the night, or finished work for the day, put the finish times in + finish mileage and next morning you can put the rest/breaks in.
It is a lot of messing about, and i personally would use the electronic one, which can be obtained from Davey Driver on this site.
Hi
just in reply to how you complete this diary which i found on Amazon.co.uk. I have one which i find excellent for keeping a record of my journeys - at the front of the main diary there are two pages showing you how to complete the diary. I hope that helps
Just be careful what he puts in it.
Knew a lad involved in a smash and the police found his drivers diary.
Helpfully had all his off card tipping and hookey running.
Didn’t go down well…
I would agree. I just use it as a record so that i am staying within the hours rules in particular and if ever i get a question from my boss about what happened on a particular day it is easy to reference back and i know where i was and what i was doing
Just to say the 2015/2016 Hgv drivers Diary is now for sale on Amazon and ebay. Is being officially launched at Truckfest Kent tomorrow!!
