The anguish of having a sock sit idle in your top drawer for 3 months , patiently awaiting the day you reunite it with its other half, then alas it turns up , you go to roll them up together- and that’s when you discover a hole on the heel, it’s probably not big enough to justify throwing away but you just know the next time you wear it with your steel toe cap boots on, you’ll regret the decision as your bald heel rubs against your boot for 10 hours .

 Real world problems mate. I used to sew mine when I was agency and could not afford a new pair.

Iv’e long embraced the multi-coloured sock option in the absence of its twinned, partner component.A tad perturbing at first, but deal-withable given time i find.

the subject of sock related topics is absolutely fascinating ( compared to the original o/p.)
theres just no end to the variables and options for their usefulness.

( those south of the border may need an interpreter )

I’ve always thought life too short to pair up socks!

My wife is fine with wearing different styles and sizes of socks together where as I prefer a matching pair at all times.

I use the buy all my socks the same method mentioned above.

So long as you’re wearing long trousers…where’s the problem?
.
.
Unless you’re wearing socks with Jesus boots of course, in which case you shouldn’t be wearing long trollies.
.
Sandals = shorts and no socks.

Shoes = long drawers and socks put of view.

The only exception could be those with psychic synaesthesia, whereby they would walk with a limp if wearing odd coloured socks.

I still rue the day i discarded my black fryes-biker boots to oxfam,a more robust pair of daisies i’ve yet to equal, especially twinned with one of those fine American, striped railroad, denim shirts.Anything but trainers and soccer shirts.A pox on em say i.

It was much better in the 80s when you dressed up in a jacket and kecks with no socks…in a Don Johnson Miami vice stylee.

Concur, definitely, some snappy duds on show back then, although the series itself pales in comparison to Hill street blues i reck.Dog-Breath-Belker sure had the edge, threads wise. The real deal. :sunglasses:
