how about a map book, comes in handy . or sat nav. can you not look on google maps and work out best route for yourself instead of being spoonfed the route. its the best way to learn and there is no offence intended in my suggestions.
Maybe you are right, but what is the point of this forum then if somebody can’t come and ask a bit of advice? The fella asked a fair question, whatever happened to drivers giving other drivers a helping hand?
suppose its like the other post on here, why don’t drivers talk to other drivers
I will talk and help other drivers, I would gladly give them them the latest TomTom truck maps and even do it for them, free of charge. I will help you rope sheet change bulbs jump start and I have even given a driver foodcos he was stuck out. But to want to be spoonfed a route which is easy to sort via internet that’s bone idle, next they will want you to drive the bloody truck.
Sorry if this offends but it is the only way you will learn you craft of being a “professional” truck driver.

Attitudes like yours are the reason newbies ■■■■ up, get lost, hit bridges, lose loads etc. Too scared to ask for help for fear of ridicule and abuse.
No offence intended of course.
Attitudes like mine actually help drivers learn their craft.
Imagine the op confronted with a diversion ,no internet to ask for advice, never read a map etc, narrow lanes low bridges etc, panic sets in .
Or op can read a map and fend for himself.
It’s not me being nasty its about learning and being capable, the guy asked question on the internet so why couldn’t he look for the route on the internet.
Giving the guy the route actually hinders his progress, would you do it if it was multidrop.
He needs to learn to plan his route and to be able to divert if needed, what if he was given a route and the road was closed■■?
He was good enough to get his licence even tho he didn’t Learn much at school(neither did I ) so now is the time to learn.
Spoonfeeding does not help anyone?
I can’t help but agree with Getz, if he were asking for a route into London or somewhere in the sticks then I’m sure most on here would want to help but this is as straight forward a journey as you’re gonna get even as a new pass. Will he now need every journey for the next year five days a week on here because he’s new?
I’ve rarely come across any drivers unwilling to help with routes over the years but if I asked anyone for something this straight forward even in the beginning I’d of never lived if down.
There must be a bit of common sense and self confidence from the start if the op wants to make it as a truck driver.

When people are left to figure stuff out for themselves, they run the risk of figuring out wrong or figuring out bad habits. Not everyone knows what you know, the best way to learn is to ask.
Your reply came across as snotty and arrogant, it probably wasn’t meant to, which could destroy someone’s fragile confidence. (Although if someone IS fragile, posting on here isn’t the best of idea’s! )
Agreed but he didn’t even bother to look.
45 years on the road and I still ask and learn (even from a new driver)
To ask for the route when so much info on net is available is lacking the want to learn by your own methods.
Come to me when all else fails and I will gladly help, come to me without research and I will not.
We all learn as we go along,we all make mistakes but we learn. What good is it if we don’t learn from experience. What good if we don’t try.
I remember when all you had was a map (usually a Collins bought cheap somewhere) you had a basic idea of how to get were you were going , didnt matter if your load was high , long, wide , delicate, we all knew how to roughly get were we were going, for me the last part of the journey involved stopping at the last available services or garage and pickinģ up the local A-Z and then memorising your route to your drop, i might have got lost a few times but a quick ask at a petrol station or flagging the postman down usually put me back on track, i know its been said a million times before but, honstly you yunguns , you want it alll on a plate, wheres the sense of adventure gone the job used to have
the nodding donkey:
Down M5, cross the old Severn bridge, first exit off.
You have reached your destination.
Or M5 M50 A449 to M4 head East towards Severn Bridge take M48 its the next turning off before the old bridge
its about the same time but will save you £20.00 IN tolls.
Those directions are off the top of my head, like most of us who have seen and driven around most of the U.K I don’t often have to look at a map to get to most major towns and City’s .But that has come from experience.which I gained from asking people like us when I first started out driving and obviously using a road map. So if the op uses this method I’m sure in time to come he’ll be on here given advise to the next generation of new comers .
Finding your way around isn’t that difficult especially with today’s sat navs and such. I still prefer to use A to z’s and maps but each to they’re own! The only downside to a sat nav I can think of is one doesn’t remember the roads you have traveled getting to your destination and are therefore unable to pass on directions to anyone who asks you how you got there!
