the OP has already looked on all the manufacturers websites.

best thing to do in my opinion is to send out your CV with a covering letter to the truck dealers in your area. Means it gets to the right people quicker, and could give you the edge over someone who’s applied through the manufacturers website.
Where i work currently (a Toyota dealer) refuses to take on apprentices that apply through the Toyota main website, they rather take someone on that has written directly to them, no idea why they do that. I know that the apprentices at work are funded by the company, not the government (though there is apparently some rebate money the company can claim back)

RH is part of the Reno dealer around here i think. Classed as RH Renault. They are going to be getting back me.
Merc is getting back to me. I had to get in contact with someone else, which i took sorted out apprenticeships for the area, because 2 dealers told me to contact them.
Amber Valley have me a straight no.

For transport refrigeration try thermo king or carrier local to you.

Have you tried going in for college to do a full time course there? I went that way and it’s been all downhill from there!

CV and cover letter already sent off to them.

Not thought about that.
Do you still end up doing the course for the 4 years, or is it cut down because its a full time one?
Id much rather do one part time, while doing the work, but if i cant get one then its a possibility.

How long do you need to have your licence before you can get a job driving vans by the way? If i dont get a job then that could be something i do till next time. But i wont have had my licence long when i go for that. How long do companies normally ask for does anyone know?

I did a GNVQ in Mechanical Engineering and then spent another four years tax dodging and drinking

I’m not entirely sure what the course options are, it’s probably best to look in the college brochures for automotive engineering courses and suchlike. Perhaps a local operator may take you on for part time work, even if it’s only washing trucks to start off with. At least then you’ll know whether you like it or not.

I can’t find any info for raod haulage, but this may be of interest (from passenger transport); goskills.org/index.php/standards_quals/21
