"Heavy Haulage through the years"

The trailer in the 2nd pic, was the design inspired by the American Roger trailer? As it looks somewhat alike?
[/quote]
Design is similar but unfortunately I didn’t know the french designer of this trailer, so I Don’t know this trailer’s history …

What does this machine do
Oily

Looks like it’s the derrick of a small drilling rig Oily
A bigger version of a derrick on a land based drilling rig

Cheers Dig

Were you driving that MAN at the time DIG? Great pic by the way

Patrick I think your shoebox was made by the same mob that made DeanBs its just a brand name for a 40foot shipping container company   Good stuff though.
No I wasn’t the driver of the MAN it belonged to a down on his luck owner driver who turned up in our neck of the woods looking for work so the boss gave him a start,he stayed a couple of months then moved on I never saw him again.

The sugar cane industry is huge Oily they have their own network of rail engines and rail cars which i understand are capable of hauling 1000ton loads and Bundaberg is the home of the rum distillery so your relations were pioneers in that industry.
There is a tv program about the operation of growing cutting hauling and processing the cane Discovery channel I think a very interesting show.
Cheers Dig

Hi DIG, Scania power in that one scania.com/group/en/new-eng … t-success/

Oily

Its all in the gearing Oily and a 5 cyl engine you can’t get much smoother power than that. :astonished:

Apparently, this is the Tractomas Brackmills had, I can only guess what happened to it, but it seems likely that it went away for export? Does anyone know more about it?

Some fantastic pictures here De heer Patrick.

This picure made me think - I hope this driver didn’t have to take too many tight turns. With the tank overhanging so much at the rear the swing would have been quite something.
