Good evening all,
Never sure where to post items like this.
Whether here, as I am a noob (with a licence held for quite a whil)e, but haven’t used it enough off in the last couple of years (so not a proper lorry driver am I! ). Or whether it should be in the bigger boys thread!
Anway back to subject. Has anyone had any experience for working for/with a “on-site” confidential shredding company?
Just wondering as I may have an opportunity for working for one.
I wondering whether anyone has had experience of what the work actually entails, how long they tended to work on any given day (obvioulsy a lot depends on client requirements) and what the T&C’s were/are typically.
I know there is a lot of security and credit checks, but I’ve had to pass numerous of these for my current and previous jobs and even for my wife’s work too. So I can’t see me falling at that hurdle.
In the recent couple of months I’ve talked to two drivers of different said confidential destruction companies, in the course of where I was working.
But they said they had unusal runs in that they were at based at the premises all day and was on call for shredding all day long. Shredding was bought to them and then they got on and destroyed it in the back of the truck.
Both were drivers over 55 and just worked monday to friday on what they said was shortish shifts. They were both based at different large government offices in London everyday, just driving from the depot in the morning and returning in the evening. Not sure what a shortish shift was to them but they seemed very happy doing it.
However I’m not sure if it will help me to get more experience in getting more chances to drive lorries in the future? As these gentlemen spent most of their day stationary, smoking, reading and sleeping.
Hang on why I am questioning the above
I’m not sure if the above would appeal to my current work ethics (always need to be doing something), but if it helps me to get reliable experience to climb up the ladder I won’t snub it.
Also the money looks good, but of course that always depends on the amount of hours you are actually going to get. Great being on a £20/hour job but only working 1 hour a day isn’t going to keep the wife or mortgage company!
Any ideas.
Look forward to hearing from you all on the above if you have had any experience or know of anyone who has done something similar to the above?
C
