Had A Bad Day! (Long Winded Post - Sorry)

MickyB666:
On the day in question the hopping would have been exaggerated by a combination of my heavy steel toe capped boots (which do not provide for the lightest of touches) and probably more so by my increasing levels of adrenaline - not helped by the gathering audience, in hindsight I am also wondering if in the heat of the moment I was maybe getting a little bit impatient to get out of the situation and not waiting for the hand brake to fully release - that does seem quite plausible now I think about it.

I will also add that I am not a ‘flapper’ however I do take the odd deep breath when I feel the need to quash any rising panic, and that was one of those occasions when I took one or two deep breaths… but probably could of done with taking one or two more. :unamused:

I agree with F-reds, but think you will be a lot less “flappable” in just a few weeks or months. Today i revered in to, and down the full length of this first time, and didn’t give a second thought to stopping the traffic on the main road.

And that makes all the difference, as you just concentrate 100% on the task at hand. As well as setting yourself up right, so you swing the nose very close to the far side of the road, as this lets you get it as straight as possible as early as possible!

It gets better mate!

Cheers all

Impressive reversing Evil!!!

Things don’t seem quite so bad now, I still managed to pass Cat C+E today despite this knocking the hell out of my confidence. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=130116

And as of yet no insurance claim has been submitted so maybe the manager has had second thoughts about submitting one.

Peter Smythe:
I’ve got a couple of MAN artics that don’t leap about if used with consideration. Jump on the throttle and, yes, you’ll be airborne quite quickly!

Pete

I drive a MAN 13 plate artic and I have driven a few MANs before, every one of them I have driven and the present one has a crawler gear forward and a slow reverse. Was this a rigid without these gears?

Evil8Beezle:
I was asking Mickey, as I know your recovering at present & hope that’s going well!

But I would probably say that a smaller more lightweight shoe would help, & not my size 11 site boots!

Thought you were Evil Getting there thanks

But maybe because I have a smaller foot & not that heavy I might just have a lighter touch to the accelorator

As said you will live & learn form this & next time not flap you will look back & laugh in time & wonder why you made a big deal out of it
