Got Fired Today

By now our fitter had arrived and promptly emptied two extinguishers onto it along with an ambulance driver and a dustman who’d stopped.

Bet the ambulance driver and dustman werent too impressed at being thrown on the fire. They probably only stopped to see if they could help in any way.

Lycanthrope:
well done 8wheels for getting it to a safe place  many people would have just pulled up and dropped it.

Maybe some of the 763 people who have viewed topic should post their thoughts of your professionalism aswell :stuck_out_tongue:

i have just read it …lol…

well done mate…

Im impressed with 8 wheels actions, Im not so sure I would of been so switched on,

I was taught on the ADR that the fire extingusher is not for the load anyway,so you did the right thing getting the cab away and leaving the fire alone. well done.

Dropped the legs , pulled the pin and you didn’t even burst your suzies you must be a right cool headed mother ■■■■■■ 8wheels

Well done that man, sounds like you managed to stay very calm and collected.Next time you want a fire bring it up to our yard ,weve got some Scanias and Premiums that need a ■■■■ good toasting. Im sure that you`d get plenty of help reversing into just the right spot!

TBH our old unit could do with going on the fire  but I don’t think I’d have been very popular.

I heard a whisper that Volvo had givn the machine a good pre-fire valuation so if the insurance pay out we’ll do quite well. My boss wants rid of the machine anyway as it has been a bit a troublesome one. I took it up to Volvo a couple of years ago and they fitted a new engine in it.

I’m sure that most drivers would have done the same, it was never a roaring inferno whilst it was moving.

8wheels:

if you take the red air line off, that puts the brakes on anyway

That occured to me when I pulled the lines off.

This unit and trailer stay together and the only time the trailer get’s dropped is when the loads set on fire, added to the fact that I’m a rare visitor to the drivers seat means that I have to try and remember how to ■■■■ acurately.

I’m OK tootling around with matches but I’d rather be back on my rigid.

The main concern was the remaining fuel in the tank (as it had been full) so we pumped the diesel into a drum.

You do realise you are now classed as “a ■■■■■” :stuck_out_tongue:

Well done… I know i’d of not dropped the legs i’d of panicked and pulled the pin and gone most probably forgetting the airlines to lol.

Looking at how close the legs are to the fire you got some balls… more than i’ve got!!!

wel done, any ideas wot caused the fire?or have you been chain smoking and chuckin the butts out the window

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but from what you said above about the used fire extinguisher; did it encourage your boss to make sure that those extinguishers in the trucks actually worked

They got issued with new extinguishers, but they are out of date now

Lol, nice one neil!

Oddly enough the next day a load of new extinguishers arrived. Although the ones issued to us were only smallish in cab types. I’d have thought a big ADR type affair in box on the trailer / bodies would have been more useful.

was there no Pub to stop safelly
