Good news 4 cyclists

Bluey Circles:
just done a quick search, and it would appear that they have indeed wasted a vast sum of money in what must be one of the most pointless exercises of all time.

It would be a great idea ‘if’ the thing was unmarked. As for the lower nearside door window that could obviously be a life saver if it was made mandatory as a retro fit. There’s also no reason to think that it should interfere with the nearside window operation assuming it is fitted in the outer door skin pressing. While in this instance also providing the police with unarguable evidence of cyclists undertaking across junctions and how useless the nearside kerb mirror actually is to drivers without that luxury in the real world.

lets hope the police can get some backhauls from banbury

in other report i saw police were appealing for info on blue scania , so looks like hit and run .

nope window is a huge waste of money . the field of vision out that thing is going to be crap i think . and will only be able to see the same as correctly positioned door top kerb mirror .

would be better spent putting those little camera things on door , as some hauliers are now doing . have noticed a sainsbury lorry and a brick lorry with them . presumably they have a satnav sized monitor in cab

but really there should be no issue with a poxy 8 legger if mirrors positioned and used correctly .

its not like an artic where with best eyes in the world , you are always going to lose sight of 1 arse end corner when turning .

The reality is that the nearside kerb mirror can’t provide much more of an idea of what’s next to the truck other than providing a good view of the front wheel nuts and the nearside door.Whereas a lower window provides more of a view further out to the side.

On that note check the angle of the kerb mirror on the police tipper which is no doubt at the optimum possible adjustment bearing in mind police expert drivers.

As for the artic when turning you’re going to lose sight of ( a lot ) more than just the ‘arse end corner’.If the mirrors are set low enough and you’re using the idea of watch the nearside mirrors and let the rest look after itself you might just be lucky enough to see the undertaking cyclist going under the landing legs. :bulb: :unamused:
