When I was at boarding school in the late 50s, my mate Pete and I used to listen (illegally) to portable radios tuned in to Radio Luxembourg under the bedclothes . He kept telling me about this great record with distinctive intro but I was never switched on at the right moment. One night I heard that ‘daang, dang’ and missed the next note as Pete flung back his sheets, not knowing I was tuned, shouting that’s it, that’s it!
Great record, great memories.

Salut, David.

Yep - Seddon started dropping “Big A” hints a while before the introduction of the 401, and it was released during that period, about 1980. The cover showed a 400 Series with an A on the front (the proper, original Atkinson A!) with a name I recall as “Dale” on the headboard, possible from Stoke.

I did have a copy on vinyl, and I suspect that it may still be in the 40’ tilt that I have, and which is half full of unpacked household stuff. The other half is a car, and it’s all been in the trailer about 4 years!!

It’s ‘Eastbound and Down’… not Westbound! but it was from Smokie and the Bandit, performed by Jerry Reed who played the Snowman
