Then he had no real need to be on / in the bed . Two seats to choose from push the seat back , recline and make yourself comfortable . Absolutely no need to be on the bed .
As tramper…if they were dragging me back to the yard, for the night shift to use my motor…I’d be looking for summat else, anyway.
Sorry but if I was being tipped and was allowed in the truck and I’d be there for 3.5hrs the very first thing I would do is get on the bed…
I think his intention was to send a message to management, i.e. ‘don’t let bloody agency use my truck!’, and so may have exaggerated the state you left it in for dramatic effect.

It’s hard for people replying as sammym is on pre-mod I think so posts are out of sync.

Too right! I’d do same, no way I’m sitting in a chair uncomfortable as they are reclined or not for 3-4hrs just because it upset some queen!
It’s not HIS motor it’s the company’s so it’s their issue not the driver who used it and did best to keep it as near as he found it
If of course it happened at all [emoji6]

If bedding is on the bunk roll it up and put it to one side before sitting/laying on the bunk, do not physically sit or lay on another drivers bedding
sammym:
I was delivering to AO RDC in Crewe. Anyone familiar with it will let you know they leave you in cab whilst being tipped. I got there at 2.30am but was booked in for 6am and they wouldn’t tip me early as I was meant to be on day shift.
It’s best to tip at AO on the day shift, there’s an absolutely cracking little Romanian girl working in the goods-in office.

Correct - takes all of 30 seconds to do and shows that you have just a little respect for other drivers - if you must get on the bed at all .
Personally I don’t even get into the bed in “my” truck unless I’m undressed - that way theres no chance of mucky jeans , dirty hivis etc etc leaving the bedding dirty . Likewise hi vis, coats don’t make it into the cab - thats what side lockers are for keeping the filty wet stuff out .
The driver who stormed off would probably have done the same thing had you left a single crumb on the dash. It’d have been exaggerated as “a pig sty”, the scene being made to try and teach the office a lesson for not leaving his truck stood idle as he would like.
You did nowt wrong, the tramper is a childish tool… end of really.
He sounds like a prima donna, sammy.
The words “Pinch” and “Salt” spring immediately to mind.
Ok, I can see the bit about the bedding, maybe remove it before laying back, but the rest? Fine by me. I’m sure you put it back as you found it too.
I’m guessing that he wasn’t expecting his beloved to be taken out by a mere agency driver for a night on the tiles.
Onwards and upwards hoss, onwards and upwards.
Genuine perspective…here goes.
You daymen just don’t get it, tramping to your type of job is like chalk and cheese.
For those of us trampers that don’t put the ‘‘Tramp’’ in ‘‘tramping’’ , we look after our truck interiors as we do our home, because guess what ?..that’s exactly what it is .
However in this case I’ll agree that matey was well over the top mincing off if Sammy says he left things tidy.
I fully admit I aint too keen on ‘‘my’’ motor being used whilst I’m off, as I still have that owner driver mentality left over from years ago, and after that when I worked outbased and for the foreigners it was parked at home for my holidays…but I fully realise in this present job that it has to be kept going when I’m off,.and as long as it’s kept clean, smoke free and all the rest of it fair play as far as I’m concerned.
If Sammy moved all the tat etc, but then put it back as he found it, I can’t see the problem tbh.
I came back last week after time off, after Beaver’s claim he saw a ‘‘Flip flop in a shell suit’’ driving it while I was off , but it hadn’t moved out of yard, so that was ok by me tbh.
I did tell them if they put a dirty ■■■■■ and/or a smoker on it, I would be taking it for a valet before I started back, and that I would not be paying for it.
Some of the trucks in our yard are ■■■■ hole standard,.I would not let my dog kip in them.
I’m not a tramper any more. But I’ve done my years at it.
When I use a trampers truck I don’t touch anything that doesn’t need to be touched, if bedding is left on I stay sat in the seat, if my shoes are muddy I make sure they stay only on the pedals and floor mat and if I’m able to I will clean that at the end of the shift, if I eat anything I try and make sure any flying crumbs are confined to land on the floor mat which again I’ll clean when I’m done. I always refuel and ad blue even if it was left with only half a tank for me.
In this situation though with all the stuff on the windscreen. “I don’t touch anything that doesn’t need to be touched”. Well, if it’s blocking my vision, it needs to be touched and moved doesn’t it. I’d do my best to put it back exactly where it was. If i couldn’t I’d let the office know as well.
A trampers trucks is the companies truck so it’s up to the company if they want to use it when the tramper is home, but other drivers need to respect it because as Rob said, it’s the drivers home for more of the week than they actually home.
It’s not hard to leave it as you find it and show a little respect.
Driver was probably on his period.
He’ll be fine next week.
GET A FRIGGIN GRIP YOU FRINGE…
Grow a pair or take ya frilly peaky boo curtains elsewhere is what her boss needs to say.
Oh no can’t say that cos it might hurt its feelings.

You sound like an old school proper considerate type driver sir.
There aint many of us left.

It was a fancy model with about 5 steps
I think I’m going to adopt that from now on - “a five-step motor” as meaning “a wagon with gratuitous luxury and comfort”!
“The fella’s driving a five-step motor and he’s still finding things to complain about!”

id imagine it wont be long before the oxford concise dictionary changes it from " ful tang spec" to " a full five stepper".
at that point we wi be hearing report from the limpers saying " i turned up for my shift this morning and they gave me the keys to a four stepper which i promptly flung back at them…just who the hell do they think they are? !!! "

You beat me to it!
Would love this phrase to become the new RDC catchphrase. Yeah, told him either I got the 5-stepper or I was going home, he soon changed his tune.
For those that care (nobody, I imagine, but anyway) I got my motor back yesterday… Found my coolbox safely seatbelted (nearside) and a load of empty water bottles (that proper drivers have) in the footwell. Got in and turned the lights on to find… The driver had used MY pink stuff and MY rags to clean and polish the entire interior! I was beside myself, I ran to the office armed with my pink stuff and started spraying it all over the manager’s desk whilst screaming questions at him about how he ■■■■■■■ likes it! Then I went to his house and rolled his bedclothes up neatly and left them alone whilst his wife screamed at me to get a grip, well that was it, I ran to his kitchen and didn’t touch anything, then went to his drawing room and didn’t leave a dirty footprint anwhere. I was so enraged that I just got on with my job!
Seriously, the guy cleaned the dash and all the plastics! Fair play to him!
Sammym did nothing wrong, that motor belongs to the company…i dont mind a knob on my wheel…i dont mind frilly curtains…i dont even mind clean bedding
being left, as i do respect another drivers property, i dont like stupid name boards, so they will go in the footwell…i dont mind a sat nav…but if a tv is obstructing my vision ( too much ),it will be taken down…so will anything else that obstructs…but all in all i am not too fussed, if its just for a day…but i feel the regular driver needs a talking too…especially where work is involved, and that vehicle will be used as and where necessary, and possibly by agency drivers, especially the regular ones.
