LOL! Yeah right mate. Hey, I know my place…and I’m stayin! Thanks anyway.
Medaluk: Cheers mate. Good luck with your job search. I must say I was really lucky in getting this chance, but who knows, if you get yourself out there enough it may come to you as well. All the best.
I have not really had anything interesting to report recently, hence the reason why I have been quiet on here over the past few weeks. Oh, plus the fact that I have been knocking up an average of 60 hours a week and I ain’t used to that…yet!
The only real thing of note that happened to me over the past two weeks was at the start of last week when I was up in Scotland. There was a bit of a mix up …I dropped off a forklift in Kirkcaldy then arrived at a site in Aberdeen, unloaded the forklift, only to hear the chap say, “That’s a gas powered forklift and I’m sure we were expecting a battery powerd one!” Yup, it turned out I had dropped off the wrong one in Kirkcaldy!
I had to go back down to Kirkcaldy (about two hours away), do a swap and return back up to Aberdeen where I dropped the correct one off first thing the next morning. Do’h!
easy mistake to make eh…did the gaffer say anything when you had to drive back and deliver the right lift? glad things are going well for you though.
you’ll have to get yourself an internet enabled phone so you can keep us up to speed during the week pal.
big wheels rolling

Cheers mate!
My boss wasn’t too happy as you could imagine, but given that I hadn’t received any kind of training before I was let loose on my own and the fact that the paperwork is so confusing (not to mention on occasions wrong!) and again, I hadn’t been shown what to look for etc, it’s hardly surprising that these kind of things happen. It’s not the end of the world though is it? At least I haven’t driven his truck off the road and into a ditch or gorge or anything like that…yet!
In fact I have just purchased a nice new iPad2 and signed up for a rolling monthly contract with 3 to access the internet, but when I will actually get chance to use it…
Not sure if you’ve sussed it or not yet but I hope this helps;
Right hand stalk (between steering wheel and dash, just like the indicators), the end of it has a little collar - push that towards the steering column and you’ll notice the “auto” dissapear on the display in the dash, you can now change gear up and down by pushing the whole stalk forwards or backwards. push the collar (not the button on the end, that’s the exhaust brake) again to go back to auto.
Pushing the stalk forwards or backwards without operating the collar (in “auto”) will change up and down gears but only for a short while.
Bloomin’ horrible things, even by auto standards! If I could swap mine for a clapped out DAF CF with a manual 'box, I would!
Great post LJA.
Looks like some of the ■■■■■ places I have to go but i only have to do it in a 6x4 with diff locks and very large HIAB over the drive wheels, not a bloody artic

Cheers guys!
Yeah Gembo I’m still enjoying it despite all the hurdles I am having to jump over at the moment.
Thanks darkseeker! No, I hadn’t messed about with that, but I might have a play one of the days (when I get some time! )
Well, I had a sort of ‘normal’ week this last week, except for one thing that got me going, but I am now going to post that in a new thread…
