FT sums it up well

It would make sense doing what the Netherlands do.
Also done in America the union’s or collective bargaining set the hours and pay rates.
Then the customer knows exactly what they’re paying , companies can’t cut wages to undercut other hauliers win win.
Unions or CB
Should be looked on different from the 70-80 era

Wheel Nut:
And poor old Orys got so much stick on these pages and now he is writing in the FT :stuck_out_tongue:

O, hello  Actually I am not writing for FT, but I spent over an hour chatting with that journalist lady on the phone, she was asking very good questions, so if she also spoke in such way with those wiser than me there is no surprise that she wrote a good article. She really seemed to be doing a throurough research. Quality journalism that is.

As for me, since that blew I spoke with few more journos, I’ve been a few times on the radio here and there and once on TV, then I denied the further requests. I don’t believe I have THAT much to say, especially that they were all asking the same basic questions, and anyways, being famous turns out to be boring

If I was a Polish driver I’d be pointing out the market status of the Polish road transport industry v Brit one to the FT and then I’d be out of here laughing all the way home.

More than the market share and productivety, of the European road transport industry, than France, UK and Italy combined and more than Germany’s.Go Poland.

you can all thank the “god” tachograph and the digi , driver facing cameras graft every minute spying on you what were you doing here na na na it was better with log books …you were all told it was a spy in the cab wring every minute out of the truck then screw the driver for cards you need to have.“i know the good companies pay for this” 15 hour spread in2021 …12.30 in 1968 I think ,that was some move just so you could have a spy in the cab…

Ah, this. But this was mostly built on lower cost. Kind of what Britain was doing a few decades ago when it has become a cheap transporter of Europe…

I have to say, though, that the industry is heading in the good direction. Now it’s no longer about the cost, it’s about the top quality of the services. This good change is something I really welcome.

Service levels and efficiency that rail freight just can’t provide. The basis of the long haul road transport sector. The difference is a government that recognises it and celebrates it …as opposed to ours.
Polish diesel 1.18 EUR litre at present.Makes a nice saving on a full tank when back at base.
Over to GasGas for comment.
