From panic buys to bulk buying, cant blame people to much

That’s what an apocalypse ( or stuff being with held or diverted to China ) looks like not the WWZ scene or even the supermarket scene in the old Survivors series.

Carryfast:
Trust me the stuff ain’t there. The combination of empty shelves, no customers in deserted shops, no one refilling the shelves, no trucks on their bays delivering more stuff, says one thing. The stuff is being held back or diverted. These lying zb’s are ■■■■■■■ on us and telling us it’s raining.
While surely bulk buying, thereby minimising shopping trips and interactions, is a good thing. This is a resupply issue not a demand issue. Can’t go to the pubs but its ok to have pensioners massing together in queues and shops to get their stuff when these commy zb’s release the bit that ain’t being sent to China to keep the cheap labour force going.

Hi CF, great to read your posts as always but I have to disagree and although it’s all relative to your area/situation I must say the food is available.

Current issue is getting the stuff on the trucks which will be resolved very quickly, speaking to other drivers we will assist with loading if needed just to get out of these RDC s hit holes. Some H&S box ticking bollox restriction overrides are needed but we not far from that.

So relax the sky isn’t falling down, we can get through this we will get through this. After all our older generation have been through worse.

Just give us the chance to help those older generation folk we owe our freedom to.

This is not the end of the world it’s the start of a new better one.

There is no reason whatsoever to panic buy as it just causes problems ,which it has …You have to self isolate ,get it delivered ,and who needs 200 bog rolls for 14days …Panic buyers trying to justify it are idiots …Cows are still being milked ,eggs are still being laid ,warbutons to name 1 company are still making their product …You can still get takeaways !!! Their is no justification whatsoever for what has been happening

Perosnally i feel sorry for shop staff.
There more or less forced to work supermarkets will always remain open no matter what as the nation has to eat.
Yet ever day they have close contact with 1000s of strangers.
Must be very worrying times for them.puting there health at risk for the minum wage.
Hats off to them I say
Also they shoudl.close all day Sunday and shorter hours in the week.
Give staff a rest a chance to restock the shelves. And maybe then be forced to eat some of our hoard

No argument here you are 100% correct

Doesn’t anyone realise that we had shops before supermarkets? You know, those quaint little places with things in the windows in the High Street?
All the supermarkets will survive this catastrophe, but if you don’t use the little shops they won’t be there when you want them.
There was a huge crowd in the Co-op when I drove past this morning, on my way to the local fruit and veg shop, which had stock but no customers! I was able to buy everything I needed without worrying about touching other people. Look around you; there are shops around!

Yep, they deserve better don`t they?
Just give em a hug and a kiss to to show your gratitude.

It was too late to be resisting…

I’m wondering if the current western government stance against Covid-19 - is in fact a cover story for something rather deeper still. An upheaval that will change the entire western way of life for the better - once the smoke has cleared…

Here’s hoping.

It occurs to me that our government wouldn’t have easily chosen to trash their own economy - had the alternative of “doing nothing instead, as per usual” let in a far more dangerous enemy instead - and no, I’m not talking about “Unemployment” or “Immigrant” or any other everyday “Issue” we think we can can to grips with.

Hhmmm… Interesting…
But in its different forms stupidity, and the ability of some to believe in fairy stories, whilst denying the plain truth, has been with us for decades, nay centuries, I fear the evidence of its proliferation is with us still…

It doesn’t matter what one believes, as few of us actually know what the truth is any longer, and thus it becomes less and less relevant, as “Post-Truth Age” suggests, of course…

Perhaps the future will be along the lines of

“Get on board with the Post-Brexit world, and have a nice well-paid job”.
OR
“Keep on resisting, stay ultimately on benefits, which we’ll make sure are paid in depreciating fiat currency on a mark-time basis over the coming 5 years”…

Ultimately we all have the same choice:

Embrace the future that is now being force-fed to us - or be destroyed by it.

Here’s a clue the supermarket fruit an veg counters aren’t empty because of panic buying or because people want any more veg. That’s why the green grocers have stock. :unamused:

While green grocers ain’t much use if you’re out of butter and bacon, beef, chicken, biscuits etc. While broccoli, cabbage and sprouts and apples etc are no substitute for those. The fact is the supermarkets aren’t being resupplied with anything including fruit and veg.People are in denial that there’s something wrong about all this. :bulb:

The truth is clear we’ve allowed a bunch of self serving corrupt Chinese ‘traders’ to invite a hostile power into our country one way or another.Facilitating the delivery of a probable bio weapon into the country in the form of open door free movement with China when China had at first pretended that it was an accidental natural occurrence.
Oh wait then they tried to blame the US for a bio weapon attack on them.Time for action if we’re going to have a doomsday scenario let’s do it properly and take these Commy scum out with us.Who knows if we do it right we might even win.But better to die on our feet taking our attacker with us than in a hospital bed whining about it while the commies gloat and plan their next move for takeover of the west and its food supplies.

( Or it’s an agenda 21 stunt ).

Whilst some would choose to impose their own agenda for the sake of their own survival.
Some lead, some follow.
Some are fraudsters, some dont hide behind anonymous identities.

Here’s the problem with warehousing - you can only have so many people working there; I remember from my picker career the pre-Easter/Christmas period; it would start 3 weeks earlier so they would hire a lot of agency workers who a) needed 3 days of training (using MHE and the specific computerized picking system) b) had no experience so were slow for the first week or two, so much so that most of them would struggle to achieve 50% of the productivity of older staff c) there was a limited number of LLOPs and reach FLTs available d) again - you can only add so many people to a shift before you get diminishing returns - pickers eventually end up getting in each others way, especially when the same few products are in demand and everyone is trying to pick from there, add FLTs trying to restock because they go in minutes and you have chaos and standstill

Same thing with goods in/loading - they can only process so many vehicles at a time; usually when goods come in they get put away on the top shelves immediately as the interim storage area is small (about 40 pallets) - guess what, those FLTs need to use the same floor/space as everyone else picking and restocking

Now they’re saying demand is up 4fold which I don’t see them dealing with unless they expand their current warehouse capacity
[/quote]
So why don’t we get the RLC in? Get some additional warehouses for ambient stuff like er loo rolls, k rolls, tissues.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but the Supermarket’s official line of complaining about all this, and condemning these panic buying clowns is all ■■■■■■■■

I finished work yesterday and went to get some fresh milk and bread to take home, it was about 5pm so it was quiet.
Virtually nothing on the shelves :open_mouth: , certainly no milk, but they were baking bread which they had been all day.
Walked round to the beer aisle, nothing, then one of their guys came round with ONE case of John Smith’s, so I put it in my trolley, normally I would get a couple of cases to last me at home, and put some in ny truck fridge, then he told me I was only allowed 12 cans from it.
Crazy times.

Yesterday Morrisons RDC Bellshill, 40 units parked up 50% subbies hired in. 25 drivers or so any one time, sent to cabs to await phone calls. Stood 7.45 hours awaiting a load eventually went out at 2145 to Edinburgh. Load of ambient. Told they couldn’t pick the stuff quickly enough.

No more, no less, than your own contribution to the status quo. #justanothercoginabiggerwheel

Bet you feel big now, dontcha.

I could deliver more…

If I wasn’t plodding away at 55mph.

Just been to our local Iceland this morning and stocked up with their Indian currys and Chinese (incidentally has anybody tried them, they are the nearest you can get to a proper Indian or Chinese takeaway) to put a couple in truck fridge with my home cooked stuff.
(Got all the Indians btw and ironically they had ran out of bog rolls  )
Other than that it was just like a normal day in the shops, including Asda apart from a couple of half empty shelves.
Probably because more people are at work rather than weekends.

With decreased traffic, are you with a company that’ll give you more fuel economy bonus?

Try turning down the hyperbole a touch. The generation that lived and fought through WWII are mostly all gone, bar only the youngest. And they did it because they had to, not to prove how tough they were. People will adapt, not because our forefathers did, but because we have to.
